1998 Ford Taurus Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 15, 2010

My '98 Taurus started making a clicking noise yesterday and seems to be running hot, the noise continues even when in park and increases with RPMs. I'm guessing that it might be the water pump, I don't see any sign of a leak water tho. It had been making a sort of a growl when starting the last month or so. Any ideas? Thanks. [email protected]

Most likely you're right on it bad water pump, some times they don't always leak when bad. you can take radiator cap off while running to look @ see if it's circulating though thats a start

When in drive my taurus rpms continue to increase seems as if its not changeing gears

is your top speed around 10-15mph? then your transmission isnt shifting. You need to have your fluid level checked first to make sure its not low or overfull. The adjust accordingly. If that doesnt fix it then you could have a speed sensor problem with the transmission or internal transmission problems.

My radiator steams and smells hot..

sounds as if you need to add fluid ...make sure vehicle is motor is cool before attempting to open the radiator cap then visually look to see if you can see fluid there if not you will need to add fluid to the top even after your motor runs a few minutes you will need to standby and continue to add fluid until full

Why is my laser making a whistling noise right at 3500 rpms

Check the tension of your on the belts, check you or anyone has not bent one of the fan blades (cooling issue) Take the belt off the alternator see if you have any movement by trying to move the belt wheel if so then it's new alternator or new bushes. Hope this helps, Malcolm Campbell.

'98 Buick Park Avenue running hot

replace the thermostat just to be safe. not to do so is what i call to gag on a nat and swallow a hog. then pressure check the cooling system to make sure it is not making pressure above what is on the radiator cap. if it is you may have a blown head gasket. make sure yer not gettin antifreeze in the oil.
