I recently took out the passenger seat from my 98 Z3. After refitting I have noticed the airbag light on the dash stays on. All the electrical connections went back ok, does this need to be reset?

Possible electrical problem with my 2015 Chevy Malibu

Question moved from Spanish company Seat (pronounced See-At) to Malibu category.

The passenger seat airbag only fires in a crash if there is someone sitting on the passenger seat. There is a sensor in the seat cushion that register a person sitting there. Under the seat there will be a connector, take it apart and spray it with electrical contact cleaner.

What does it mean when the SRS airbag light comes on and passenger airbag off light flickers?

I experienced the same type of issue with my Corolla and I took it in and turned out it was a connection that had come loose. Also, check to see if there are any recalls for your airbags or sensors. That was another issue that mine had.

Why is the passenger airbag light on?

Could be a problem with the sensor in the seat. The system thinks someone is sitting in the seat and the seat belt is not fastened.

Disable airbag airbagmodulhave a 2006 lincoln towncar, passenger seat has been removed, airbag light now stays on,how do i bypass the seat occupancy sensor

Its a weight sensitive sensor, so you would probably have to come up with some sort of resistor. I doubt you can bypass it.

There is a sensor right at the bottom of the seat belt, that sensor works hand In hand with the airbag sensor. The solution is to replace the whole belt

The airbag light in dash staying on in my 2004

Under driver and passenger seats are wires that go to seat belt anchors. These are tensioner wires.Unplug the wires from the plug under the seat.clean and replace.Doing this while the ignition is turned off. Then turn ignition back on.In 90% of the time this is your problem.Constant movement of seat causes this or rear passengers kicking plugs off.Good luck phil.

Airbag Light stays ON

By disconnecting the sensor the light will still stay on unfortunately. The light has come on in fact due to either a false contact normally with the connector under the seat (common problem) or an actual fault with the airbag itself. By disconnecting it, it will only record the fault in the MRS (Multiple Restraint System) to have occured an additional time.

The only way to clear an airbag fault, is to plug in a reader and clear the fault. However this is a vicious circle because if the airbag system isnt problem free, the light wont extinguish! It was designed so cars were forced to go to the garages with such problems as they are a high risk problem, as any joe could just disconnect the airbags and sell it to an unsuspecting victim knowing its unsafe etc etc!

Hope this helps

I have a 2002 Mazda Millenia and the airbag light on the dash is blinking. Can you tell me possibly what the problem might be?

I had both issues, it was a wiring harness for the Airbag and the motor for the steering column.
