I have replaced the port seals, isolater bolts, cleaned the EGR ports, plugs and wires, and chanced the air filter. I was getting both 171 and 174 codes. Now after 60 miles or so, pulled the codes again and am just getting the 171 code (Fuel trim bank one condition) any suggestions ? I was told that I may have to go to a dealer and have the comp re-flashed. Any help would be appreciated......

P0171 is a lean fuel condition . The computer reflashed has nothing to do with it . Vacuum leak intake manifold probably . If both P0171 & P0174 were back could be fuel pump low flow or restricted fuel filter . or O2 sensor problem or mass airflow sensor. Suggest you take it to a qualified repair shop to have it diagnosed .

dont take soo much in consideration after you have make all this things, some time is on only for any wire faulty, or a shrt electrical arc in any place in wire system. ask auto tap mechsnics for this maybe they have similar case before.

SOURCE: i am having a problem with a 2001 ford windstar.

Two bad O2 sensors is rare. The problem is before the sensor, intake vacuum leak, injector lower o-ring, IMCR stuck open or the control rod is off, vacuum hose(s) off, or MAF sensor. If this has a plastic upper intake, they had problems with o-rings.

SOURCE: check engine light on computer codes 171 174

switch, we run off snitches. 171 174 banks 1 & 2 Lean. Most likely cause are Upper Intake Manifold Gaskets, failed seals. It's not 1990 on. It's 1996 and on OBD2.

Rough idle 95 astro van, I did a full tune up , plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, and fuel filter and cleaned egr vavle.

I actually had to replace my EGR valve and the gasket. I clean the valve well and reused both. I don't think the gasket sealed well enough though. So I went ahead and got a new valve, gasket and changed them. It runs a lot smoother now.

I have 95 jeep grand cherokee orvis edition 5.2 liter it started having a rough idle no one can fix it i have changed O2,IAC,TPS, FUEL PUMP AND FILTERS nothing helps. oh and the coil ,plugs, wires is it...

If no one has removed the EGR valve and inspected and cleaned it that could very well be your problem. If a pice of debris, ( chunk of carbon) has become lodged in the EGR valve that will definately cause rough idle and stalling. There are 2 bolts that mount the EGR valve to the intake manifold. center rear ov the intake manifold. You will have to disconnect 1 elecrtical plug on the EET ( Electronic EGR Transducer) to get it out and the EET has 1 vacuume supply hose to disconnect also. takes about one half hour to pull it off and reinstall it. When you take it off, you need to inspect the mounting surface and 2 exhaust gas ports. if a large build up is present you need to clean really good. a wire bore brush and carb cleaner works well for me. make sure the valve moves and seats fully. if you can apply vacuume to the top port and make sure the valve opens and closes when vacuume is released. If it does not, or you have a vacuume leak in the EGR valve you would need to replace it. they run about $80.00 to $100.00 at your local autoparts store. Also replace the EGR gasket when and if you reinstall the old EGR valve. a new valve typically comes with a new gasket.

My 2001 GMC Sonoma is idling rough, starts hard but when accelerates sounds good. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and now all the plugs and wires, but still rough?

Check for vacumn leaks ! Idle air compensator? clean throttle valve oppenings and air port opening,do you have check engine lite on,check EGR valve? Dirty fuel injectors ,bad pressure regulator?Check fuel pressure at fuel rail,at idle !

I have a '95 Ford Thunderbird with CEL throwing code P1407 Exhaust Gas Recirc No Flow detected. Is this a do it yourself fix and if so where is this located on the car? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I don not remember the ecxact number of parts, however here goes. Takes about an hour.Remove plastic air management(1 bolt, 2 large hose clamps and 2 approx 1 inch hoses). Disconnect the battery terminals. Remove "U shaped vacuum hose from intake(alluminum about 4" in diameter, and elbow shaped). remove vacuum lines from EGR, and the plastic purge solenoid(has two port next to eachother. remove all electronic connection from the throttle positioning sensor, and the components between the intake and the firewall. Remove Cruise Control, and throttle cable. Remove intake(the elbow shaped part) four bolts at the base of it. I believe they are 8mm. Remove two bolts from the EGR valve(kind of a pain to get to) It is on the top of the block close to the fire wall next to the intake(elbow shaped 4 inch tube with TPS) I believe that they are 10mm. space back EGR 1/4 inch with smooth plastic shims to not damage seal, or replace seal. With everything apart clean all that soot and gunk out of that channel directly underneath intake(elbow) and port between that and the EGR. Make sure and take your time to clean this thoroughly. Put back together. The Electrical connectors only goon one way, however pay clos attention to those and the vacuum lines that they are all put back on in the correct places.

How do you remove and clean the egr valve on a 2002ford expedition?

It is likely not the valve you need to clean. The ports plug up in the elbow that the egr valve is bolted to. Remove the elbow and the valve and clean it out with compressed air and carb cleaner.

Code p 0470 ford aspire how do i fix this ?

p 0470 is "EGR boost sensor" failure. replacement of the sensor without further diagnosis will most likley end with the check engine light still burning brightly. pull the egr valve off of the intake. the bottom port is exhaust pressure. the top runs through the lower and upper intake to just behind the throttle body. chances are the port through the intake is completely plugged with carbon. split the upper and lower intake and clean the egr passages. a good carb and choke cleaner and a stiff wire will break up most of the carbon.

Well the pinging you hearing could be detonation try premiun fuel or try retarding the timing by a couple of degrees. do not drill out the ports. it won't fix it. don't believe everything you read online please. hope this helps you out!!
