Most likely cause is warped rotor pulsations that display in this way. Next, I would check tire balance. If rotors have been turned before, this makes them more prone to warpage due to less metal mass to disapate heat cause by friction of pad against rotor surface.

Why does my car shake violently after braking

The most common answer is the brake rotors are out of round you nee to pull them and take them to a brake shop or machine shop to have them turned. Good luck Mike L.

I have a problem with the brake equaliser, back left brake is not operating at the same level as all other 3 brakes

Hi Fran:
There could also be a minor problem associated with the left rear brake. Have you confirmed that all of the components are clean, in good condition, and functioning properly? Is the brake "grabbing"? Find a safe location like a vacant parking lot. Hold the steering wheel very lightly and at low speed, apply the brakes. Try to determine from the steering wheel reaction what it is that the brakes are doing. You could also hold the steering wheel firmly, pointing straight ahead, and sharply apply the brakes at low speed. Try to let the car tell you where the problem is.

Front tire shakes when stepping on brake pedal

Front brake rotors can warp in heavy use. When it becomes warped it'll cause the steering wheel to shake when brakes are applied.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

My 2002 Toyota Avalon is shaking when I apply the brakes. I have replaced the front and rear brake pads and the front rotors with Raybestos ones. It still shakes. Could the rear rotors be warped?

That's what I would imagine. It is usually the front rotors that warp due to the fact that they work a little harder than the rears. However, rear rotors can warp. If you feel the shake more in the body of the car, so in the seat and you feel like the whole car is moving and the steering wheel stays mostly calm then I would imagine the rear rotors are warped. However if the shaking is felt mostly in the brake pedal and the steering wheel shakes too then it is probably your front rotors. Shops can usually resurface rotors and it may be cheaper than buying new, so that could be an option for you.

My car is shaking when driving especially when I hit brake pedal the sterling wheel vibrates. What can be a problem?

If the car shakes while you are pressing the brakes, you likely have warped brake rotors (usually the front brakes are the culprit because they provide most of the stopping power and accumulate the most heat). If that's the case, you should have the rotors and pads replaced.

It is a common issue and relatively easy fix.

Shake in steering wheel

I believe you need your disk brake rotors turned to be true again or have them replaced. Whe you use your brakes a lot and kit puddles of cold water then it will warp the rotors which will cause the violent shaking. You may not feel it in the brake pedal even if it is warped rotors. If you don't think you have warped rotors then you should be very careful driving it because it will probably be in the steering sector arm or the idler arm on the steering shaft.
