Looik at fuel tank for signs of oil dripping where wire go up to under seat. Mine is wicking from brake or power steering. Clean main board and plug with electric spray cleaner.

EVAP control system problems - P0440 and P0456 codes

1) Determine the engine code cause for the Check Engine Light (C.E.L. or CEL)
2) Insert key into ignition
3) turn key to "on" posittion without starting the vehicle
4) VERY VERY quickly turn the key off one click, then on, then off, then on; cycling for 3 turns of the key (NOTE: you might have to try this a couple of times to get it just right)
5) leave on, and read the engine diagnostic code(s) that are output in the mileage counter
6) We got Code P0440 (or P 0440 or P-0440) (variations inserted for search engines)
7) A quick search of the web yielded about 3 or 4 usefull details.
8) Diagnostic code P0440 is the Evaporative Emissions Control System Malfunction (failure) of some type. Details of this type of failure and what the Evap System does for you:
9) Other web pages indicated it might be as simple as the Gas Cap being seated incorrectly, or not sealing correctly any more
10) I took it off, yes it was seated incorrectly, and reseatted it firmly
11) Now you need to clear the Check Engine Light indicator (it will clear *eventually* over time if this is TRULY the problem - I recommend you clear it now - that way is a deeper problem with the EVAP system exists, it should come on again - giving another clue something else is amiss
12) One suggestion was to take the Negative (black) cable off the battery for 10 to 20 seconds -- I did - for 30 seconds to be sure
13) You *must* turn the Engine on and start the vehicle all the way before the Check Engine Light might clear - if it doesn't try the following:
14) Turn the ignition on 50 times - yes - 50 times - but be careful, every time you cycle the ignition on (without starting the vehicle) you are turning on the Fuel Pump - continuous cycling can theoretically (according to some posts) cause it to heat up and be damaged - so every 10 times stop and let it rest for a full minute to cool down.
15) After 30 times of doing this (3 sets of 10), turn the engine fully on - see if the check engine light goes off) if it doesn't, do the remaining 20 times (2 sets of 10).
16) if it still doesn't go off, you may have a deeper issue that might require attention of the mechanics

Engine doesn't run. Suspect fuel issue. 2005 Grand Caravan.

No codes, but it was communicating? If no codes, it could be fuel pump. Have the fuel pressure checked. Do you hear it turn on for a couple of seconds, with key in on, not start? It should turn on briefly to pressurize the fuel lines and system. With key on, pressure should be pretty high, usually about 50 psi for MPFI.

The change oil light came on. on my friends 2002 monte carlo ss so i gave it an oil change and a new filter . the light won't go off.

The "Oil Change Reminder Light" has to be reset.

To reset the oil change reminder light with the accelerator pedal, turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start engine. After turning the ignition ON, depress the accelerator pedal fully to the floor and let it up again 3 times within 5 seconds. The oil change reminder light should flash a few times to let you know that it is resetting. If it does not flash, turn the switch OFF and repeat the procedure. After it flashes, turn the ignition switch OFF. Then start the engine. The light should come on for a bulb check then go out and stay out.

Error codes for 1991 dodge spirit

Turn the key to run then off, back to run, then off, then to run and leave it on. The check engine light will be on and will then go off and then on again according to the codes the engine controler happens to have in it. If the check engine light was on when you stopped the car, then there is at least one code in the controler. The light will blink the codes like this.
Cycle the key three times and leave on on the third time. light on for about 3-4 seconds then goes out for about 2 seconds and then blinks one time and goes out for 3 seconds this is for the no.1. Then the light blinks 3 times and goes out for about 3-4 seconds. You have the code 13. You could have a whole string of codes in the controler memory. It could be something like this. key cycled 3 times, light on for 3-4 seconds, then blinks 1 time, pause, 3 times, longer pause, 2 times ,pause 4 times, longer pause, then 5 times, pause 5 times the goes out.
This is code ; 13,24, 55. code 55 isn't really a code. It just tells you it's the end of any codes the controller has.
If you disconnect the battery and hook it back, you will have code 13 which simply mean 'battery disconnect'. It will errace it's self after several starts if it's not disconnected again. If you cycle the key and you get 55, this means there are no codes recorded at this time.
You will allways get 55 when checking for codes wheather there are fault codes or not. The light on for a few second before the codes start flashing is only a bulb check. Some codes like 13 will not turn the check engine on, but but will leave a code for diagnostic purposes only. If you have the check engine light on and accellerate and the light begains to blink, then the controller is telling you that you have an engine miss and are running the chance of burning out you're catalatic converter if you continue driving. Sometimes its advised to disconnect the battery after you have recorded the codes.
This will erase all codes that are present but were generated by conditions that aren't pertanent to the present condition. and then the codes that come back are the real ones to address.

Will not start just died.

Engine? Those flashes should be 2 digit numbers . Cycle key, on, off, on, off, on & leave on & recount those flashes. Example: 3 flashes, pause, then 3 more is code 33. Or 2 flashes, pause, 4 flashes, is code 24. 5 flashes, pause 5 more, is code 55 which means end of message. Then get back.

Finding truoble codes for 1994 suzuki sidekick

if you live in the states... just go to an autozone... they will scan the codes for free. you may also be able to retrieve the codes by turning the key off and on 3 times and counting the amount of times the check engine light flashes. almost like morse code... when you reach code 55 that's the end of the codes. this does not always work.

2005 jeep grand 5.7 hemi 0406 code

Check your Racket Pinion, and gearbox. Make sure there is no moisture around it. Seems like you either have a leak in your suspension, or improper pressure somewhere inbetween your stearing box, and your front end.
