i think from memory the 2litre xtype petrol and 2.0 diesel were launched about 2002 and were front wheel drive only. dynamic stability control was only on the 2.5 and 3.0 ltr which were awd cars
This may be a silly question but have you checked your fuel filter? If not it may be worth a check or a change in any case (they only cost about a tenner) I'm pritty certain it is the same filter for all XType petrol Jaguar part number C2S20906 but have your local components supplier check against your VIN. The filter is located under the car at the rear RH side door about 8-10 inches in forward of the fuel tank.
You will see a large black or silver unit with a greeny/blue buttons. The connectors are push fit just squeeze the two blue buttons together and pull the fuel line off, on the other squeeze the grey buttons and pull the fuel line off. When replacing ensure that you note the direction of flow on the filter and fit accordingly. Once refitted switch the ignition to position 2 but do not start the engine. Wait 10 secs then turn off. Repeat this once or twice.
First phone your local jag dealer with your vin number
They should be able to locate your code

Im having the same issue I believe. I have a 94\' Chevy 1500 and when i accelerate it will jerk like the gas has cut out but it wont stall. It just jerks and slows me down. It only seems to do it when going up a hill. I feel like it could be the fuel pump or possibly some intake gaskets?
When I went outside to start my Jaguar X-Type it was cold outside. I was in a hurry and didn't let the car warm up properly. It jumped a bit then the check engine light came on along with a message that said No cruise control. The no cruise light came off but my check engine light is still on. Any suggestions as to what it may be?
Inertia switch located on the passengers side (under the dash). You may need to remove a small door to get access to it. If you have not been in an accident, then it was probably tripped accidentally. Simply press the button, and it will reset. This should get your car running again. Good Luck!
Hi
Had a similar problem with my x type 2.5 petrol, only had the car 1 day went to start it nothing happend all the lights came up on the dash but the engine wouldn't start and the immobiliser light stayed on. Spoke to Jaguar they had no idea and I couldn't get it to them. After disconnecting the battery trying to reset the immobiliser phoned and auto locksmith they came out and discovered the end of the key with the blade had lost it's coding and the immobiliser was not disarming, they reprogrammed the key and the car started no problem. As far as i know there is no way past the immobiliser. Hope this helps.
