The speed sensor on the transmission maybe bad, replace it and see if that is the problem.I had the same problem with my previa and replaced it and it worked great!

My speedometer stopped working

If the speedo and odometer are both dead, you should have shifting problems and a check engine light. The speed sensor in the transmission has probably died.
If the speedo does not work but the odometer does, chances are the problem is in the speedometer head.

Speedf odometer moving slow while driving stop working

Next time you start driving and it does not work see if the cruise control and odometer work. Also is the check engine light on?

With no check engine light on, the speed sensor and wiring is ok. You have a bad speedometer. if you try the cruise control I bet it works. Keep in mind that the speedometer would not be repairable by a mechanic. You would have to send it out for repair if you could even find a speedometer repair shop anymore. It will need to be replaced by a new one or used if you can find one in a salvage yard.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Toyota Previa Odometer stopped working. Speedometer works fine, but odometer doesn't move. trip odometer also doesn't move.

Lucky you... we all dream of that day!

Why fix a gift of that ... you've got angels!

Suggestion:
1. Change oil every 3 months
2. If you really want to fix it... check the line, load with graphite as per manual.

ODOMETER STOPED WORKING.

The gear on the end of the odometer cable probably has excessive wear which causes the odometer cable to spin. It is not completely worn out or it would not function at all; however, the fix is probably going to be the same as if it were broken; i.e., remove your present cable and replace with a new one.

I had my 2003 BMW M3 in for it's annual oil change and they didn't reset my oil change maintanence light. It is still showing 3700 miles before next oil change and I just got it done.

1. Key in 0 or off position.

2. Press and hold odometer button and turn key to 1 or acc. position... like you're turning the car on, but don't crank the engine.

3. Keep button pressed until any of the following words appear in display: "oil service" or "inspection", with "reset" or "re". For vehicles with "high cluster", the fuel amount (in litres) remaining until next service is displayed (i.e. 3224).

4. Press and hold button again until "reset" or "re" flash.

5. While display is flashing, press button briefly to reset service interval indicator. After display has shown new interval, the following will appear in display for approx. 2 seconds:"END SIA"

The odometer/milage counter stopped working.

You need to replace the VSS or vehicle speed sensor. Located on LH, lefthand rear of transmission.

1995 Honda Accord LX -- odometer failure

Has the speedometer failed to?? if so, you are probably in need of the cable that runs from your transmission to the back of the speedometer. This item is called the speedometer cable. If just the odometer itself failed then you have to pull the cluster and have it serviced typically i take mine to the dealer if that happens. (just the cluster, not the whole car.) hope this helps.
