You most likely have a bad Temperature control door actuator on the drivers side. When you select a temperature setting with the dash controls these actuators move the air temperature control doors to match your settings and give the controler feedback on what their position is. If an actuator goes bad it loses it's place and will often end up at the full heat position. Sometimes they will work again for a while if you shut off the vehicle for 15 seconds or so and try again as the actuator will reset and be in the right position again until it stops working once more. Hope this helps and good luck!

Does anyone know how to locate the actuator and fix the problem? I've had similar problem and shutting vehicle off does reset it - but when it switches to heat while pulling a trailer down the highway doing that just isnt too convenient!

There is a motor that controls the blend door for the driver's side, that may be faulty, or you may have a stuck or broked dr side blend door. You can access this part by removing the dr side underdash panel, and the dr side knee bolster.

My heater blows hot on the passenger side, and cold on the drivers side.

gm cars in this era, used two different electronic motor boxes for the hvac vent doors, they are located on both sides of the heater box. one on the passenger, and drivers sides, just under the dash. one on the left/drivers side will control the hot/cold, while the passenger/right side will control the def/vent/floor. the plastic gears inside them get hot and crack, causing them to get stuck in certain positions. only way around this is to replace the left side one.

2000 lincoln ls ac is blowing hot air on pass side

On the central console is the A/C module. Inside A/C module are driver's side & passenger's side air flaps for mixing hot & cold air and directed air flows towards driver's side & passenger's side according to driver commands. The passenger's side flap for mixing hot & cold air according to driver commands is bad. Flaps are actuated by electrical step by step motors. Could be damaged the flap actuator (motor), the flap mechanism (blocked in "HOT" air position), and / or electrical supply wires. You must access the passenger's side flap for mixing hot & cold air, and see what happens when you command cold air to the driver's side: flap mechanism, flap actuator, supply wires, ... Repair & replace bad pieces and test the A/C system.

1995 Lesabre blows hot on drivers side, cold on passenger side

THIS IS A GUESS. Both sides probabley have "mix" dampers that regulate temp by mixing hot and cold air to make you comfortable. Passenger side must not work properly, stepper motor? Dirty actuator? Temp sensor on passenger not working? Don't honestly know but I'm not sure a do it yourselfer could figure it out. Sounds complicated.
