The newer cars have 2 ports. The large port which is the high side and small port, low side. The kit you buy to refill the air cond will fit only one of the ports and that's the small port. You don't want to hook up on the high side so, this is why ports are sized and the gauge will only fit one. The low side should be near the evaporator or on the evaporator.

Compressor cycling too fast

you cant guess at the pressure in the system. and its not a good idea to bleed off any r134a. it is now known to be a powerful green house gas. so should be recovered. however its easy to see what the pressure is. there are low cost gages that come with some r134a kits. that will likely tell you the pressure is low. typically that's what causes the compressor to cycle. there is likely a leak somewhere .. the r134a molecule is very small and its hard to keep things from leaking. you can use soapy water around the crimped rubber hose ends and connectors. that's what usually leaks. there are two ports on the air conditioner .. a high pressure and a low pressure .. the low pressure port is what you add fluid into. its just a valve similar to a tire valve. if you were to push the valve open then refrigerant will vent just like a tire .. but don't ever do that with your finger. it will freeze. unfortunately you will also be venting oil that flows along with the fluid. that can damage your system. if you vent too much then your system will have to be put on a vacuum pump to start over.
1. check for leaks with soapy water. look for bubbles while the system is running. look for oily spots that might indicate a leak.
2. check the low pressure side for proper pressure. chances are it will be low indicating not enough r134a
3. repair whatever is leaking before refilling. use the gage to determine when properly filled.

the system has a pressure switch that makes sure their is always enough pressure on the low pressure side. that's because if the pressure gets too low there is danger of sucking in air and that will damage the system. so if the pressure gets below a set value then it shuts off the compressor. the pressure builds back up and the compressor comes back on then again the pressure drops as the system builds up. that's why it cycles fast . there is not enough fluid to keep minimum pressure while operating. if you have too much r134a then typically it will work but will probably blow out a hose. adding fluid to a leaking system will only make it work until it leaks back out .. sometimes that can last a year or a day, depending on how bad the leak.

Low pressure

Your not charging your asking about adding
to a system that has leaks
No leak to repair, you don't need to add
Have a shop do your A/C work
If you don't know where the ports are you
don't have the experience to be doing that
type work
You will let air into the system, ruin the system,
overcharge it & most likely buy the R134a with sealer
& that will ruin the system for good. Stay out of that
isle in the stores, anything but pure refrigerant & manifold
gauges to install it & knowledge & refrigerant charts is
not something a vehicle owner should even consider

Hi have an 04 hyundai tiburon i dont know where to locate where to put freon for my aid condtioner

STEPS TO CHARGING YOUR CARS COOLING SYSTEM:

STEP 1) Look under the hood of you car on the left side of your cars engine. There should be two stainless steel lines coming from a stainless steel cylinder to your cars compressor. The two lines have plastic dust caps on them sometimes they are blue or black. Usally the black has the larger diameter tubing that runs between the evaporator and the compressor. This will be the port that you hook the refrigerant hose up to.

STEP 2) Start your cars engine after you have secured the hose hook up to the air conditioner line port. Once the cars engine is running, turn your cars AC on to Max cool. Shake the can of coolant well. The gauge on the can of coolant should read in the blue but if it is in the green your air conditioners pressure will be between 0-25 pounds per square inch. This means you will have to add refrigerant to the compressor.

If your cars air conditioner pressure is in the blue. The system has the proper amount of refrigerant and you do not need to add. If the gauge reads in the yellow you may want to seek professional help because refrigerant is not what is wrong with the unit and is probably something more technical and most likely something that you do not want to attempt to do on your own. The red on the gauge means do not add any refrigerant at all and to seek professional help.

STEP 3) If the pressure of your air conditioning system is in the green it means it is safe to add the refrigerant. You should wait for your air conditioning compressor to switch on before squeezing the trigger to add the coolant. When the compressor switches off then release the trigger and repeat until your pressure gauge on the coolant can says that the coolant is in the proper range. If the needle on the gauge is in the top part of the blue you have successfully charged your cars air conditioning unit.

STEP 4) Release the attachment from the tubing port and replace the dust cap back in it's proper place and you are done. The cars air should be cool and your compressor should cut off and on less often. If problems persist you should consult a mechanic or someone that has experience with air conditioning systems.

Air conditioner does not cool in 2000 Yukon. How do I check freon level and how to replace freon if need be

Get an r134a refrigerant add kit from Walmart or your local auto parts store.

You can even get a can of Arctic Freeze by Intermatics that has a hose and a gauge on it.

Connect the hose to the low side port. You can find this port on the 'thicker' piping that comes off of the compressor (versus the thinner piping that comes off the compressor which is the high pressure side).

Pressure should read 25 psi to 45 psi on the low pressure side when the compressor is running and the a/c is on.

Pressure should read 75 psi to 100 psi on a hot day when the car is off.

However, you'll want the a/c to be running when you add freon.

Press the button on the can to install more freon, if needed.

2000 Suzuki Vitara Air Conditioner

It does not contain Freon. It contains R134a refrigerant. You add it at the low pressure port. There is a blue or black cap on the connector. The low pressure pipe is the larger of the 2 metal pipes.
