Where is the thermostat for 2000 silverado located? Are there any pics?

It is in the waterpump assy.

4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L And 7.4L Engines



4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L Engines

It could be low on coolant or a bad or stuck thermostat. This thermostat is usually located internally under and inside the top large coolant hose coming from the radiator and retained by three bolts. There is a spring on the thermostat that opens up to let the water flow through the engine. If it is not opening this could be your problem.

located above the a/c pump, below the idler pulley, Drain coolant, remove radiator hose from water outlet, remove bolts, remove thermostat, for installation use reverse order.

Thermostats are located inbetween the engine and the radiator. Most of the time there is the top radiator hose coming off of where the thermostat is mounted.

On a 5.3L engine follow the lower radiator hose to the water pump... there is an elbow with 2 bolts... the thermostat should be located under that.... just below your serpentine belt tensioner... this confuses people because normally and engine has the thermostat on the top radiator hose

Follow the top radiator hose to the motor remove the 2 bolts on the housing and the thermstat is right there. If you still have problems dis connect the 2 small heater hoses at the fire wall and flush with a garden hose your heater core might be plugged

Follow your Upper Radiator Hose to the Motor. It will Connect to a Bell Housing that is Mounted on the Top of the Block. Remove this Bell Housing and the Thermostat is Underneath the Bell Housing. Install the New one the EXACT same way that this one can out. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
