Just bought 2000 jimmy with 108 miles i put on runs rough all of the sudden and barley idles, started to do this after accelerating quickly for less than 1/3 mile

Engine rough at idle only?
is the check engine lamp on?
remove egr valve
start engine to blow out carbon
check egr to see if there is carbon holding the valve open
clean valve
reinstall retest

It could be the Throttle Position Sensor ( TPS ) or Idle air control motor. Determining this will help be a guide. If it idles but you cannot accelerate, then it could be the Idle air control ( IAC) or the MAF ( mass air control sensor).
If it idles but stalls when you try to accelerate, then I would first suspect the TPS. You could throw a lot of money at this problem and not solve it. I would suggest getting the computer scanned to find out what codes it is throwing before buying any parts to swap.

I Have a 1999 ford f150 4.6 that back fires and is just running really ruff when idling alot of nack fire a sord of like a pulse going on what is my problem?
Mine did this at one time, and it was only a bad plug wire. Give it a tune up and see if it works. 170k miles is awesome, I have 145k now and it runs great, but had to have ac replaced this week :( Good Luck!!
Idle is rough because not a right Air/ Gas mixture. The ideal air /gas ratio is 14.6:1. If less than that it has rich mixture. If it more then that it has a lean mixture. Back fire happens when accelerated because of of rich mixture pumped out at exhaust cycle is burning. At speed above 40 miles/hour, temperature and fast compression cycle make the problem is less obvious. Cheap first shot is to replace the air filter to correct this ratio. If it doesn't help, need Fuel distributor service. ( However people like to make easy money from you first, they will convince you for a turn up) Good Luck. have you the intake off? if so check for trash in the fuel ejectors. I had the same problem, I just replace the fuel meter body with one from the junk yard
