Hello, 2004 Mercury Mountaineer fuel filter is located in front and on top of
fuel tank behind two shields. This is for 4.0L 2 wheel drive. When you
look just behind the front passenger side tire you will see the first
shield. Behind that is the second.
Thanks

SOURCE: 2004 Mercury Mountaineer Emergency Brake Adjustment
Greetings larslabs,
My name is Dennis and I can assist you to finding your parking brake adjustment location.
1) the adjustment is located so that you have to remove your center console floor finish panel (this is the drink holder).
2) raise your parking brake lever and gently pry the plastic tabs from the center console.
3) Once you can see the park brake lever you will see a nut that is turned to adjust the lever so that it has 5 clicks when it is applied.
Glad to be of assistance and thank you for using FixYa. Please rate the solution because I can learn from your rating (and it keeps my rating up to date). Thank you, Dennis

The power distribution box is
located in the engine compartment.
The power distribution box contains
high-current fuses that protect your
vehicle’s main electrical systems
from overloads.
The starter relay is in position #56 of that box.
SOURCE: program 2004 mercury mountainer garage opener
Verify the hand-held transmitter is operative.
Prepare for programming the universal transmitter by erasing all three channels (hold down the two outside buttons until the red light begins to flash [20-30 seconds]). Release both buttons.
Select one of the three universal transmitter channels to be programmed by pressing the desired button
Hold the end of the hand-held transmitter 25-51 mm (1-2 in) from the front surface of the universal transmitter so that the red light can still be seen
Use both hands to press the hand-held transmitter button and the desired button on the universal transmitter. Do not release either button.
Hold down both buttons until the red light on the universal transmitter flashes, first slowly and then rapidly. Release both buttons when the rapid flashing begins. The universal transmitter has successfully learned the new frequency signal and can be used in place of the hand-held transmitter(s).
If the hand-held transmitter appears to program the universal transmitter but does not open the garage door, the garage door opener may have a code protected or rolling code feature.
To operate, simply press the appropriate button on the universal transmitter. The red light is on while the signal is being transmitted.
IF THE GARAGE OPENER HAS ROLLING CODES---
program as above then------
Train the garage door opener receiver to recognize the universal transmitter.
Remove the cover panel from the garage door opener receiver.
Locate the training button on the garage door opener receiver. Location and color of the button may vary by garage door opener manufacturer. Refer to the garage door opener instruction manual or owner literature.
Press the training button on the garage door opener receiver for 1-2 seconds.
Press the programmed universal transmitter button for as long as the universal transmitter red light flashes (1-2 seconds). Release the button and re-press the button to confirm that the universal transmitter is trained to the receiver.
The garage door opener should recognize the universal transmitter.
SOURCE: I want 2 change 2004 mercury mountaineer transmission fluid
The best way to change it is to flush it out You can do it yourself, but I do not recommend. A shop that is good like a Monro or Firestone usually charges about 100 bucks to flush and that includes the fluid. If you do it yourself, you will save about 60 dollars, but you risk damage to your radiator.
you will need a hose and an adapter. you back out the lower, or upper cooler line for your trans, whichever is the easiest to get to, (Some trucks have an auxiliary engine oil cooler, but make sure you are flushing the trans lines) put the adapter into the rad where you removed the line, and put a hose from each one down into a bucket. Have about 14 qt's of ford trans fluid ready. Put the funnel into the trans dip stick, and start the engine. pour the qts into the dipstick tube while the old fluid is pumped into the bucket. When you have about two gallons pumped into the bucket shut the engine off and reattach the line into the radiator. start up the engine and check your level. Fill with additional fluid if needed.
note: some say you should drop the pan. two things, you only change half the fluid when you do it that way, and second if you need to change the filter because it is clogged, it is too late for the transmission. The filter is only there to protect the valve body, not keep the fluid clean.
Hope this helps
SOURCE: where is 2005 mercury mountaineer fuel filter
Fuel filters can usually be found on the drivers side under carriage about middle of the vehicle. There should be a canister type filter with 2 metal lines connected to it. One on both sides of the canister. you will need to disconnect both lines and the bracket that holds the filter in place and install the new filter. I do suggest that you remove the fuel cap to try and relieve some of the fuel pressure built up in the lines before disconnecting the filter so you won't be sprayed too much with fuel. If you have any other questions please do not hestitate to ask.
