2003 GMC Yukon XL: Will periodically stall at highway speeds during the summer (Houston hot). Forced to coast (on freeway) to a stop, wait 10-15 minutes for the Fuel Sending Unit (fuel pump) to cool before vehicle will restart. First occurred in 2004, about 2007 had the original Fuel Sending Unit replaced under Warrenty, but the second one has now started doing it. Fuel filter recently replaced, & throutle body cleaned. Suspect problem is with re-formulated gas being less dense in the Houston heat, impacting suction pressure & ambient tempurture of the fuel sending unit. Try to keep fuel tank full, last time had about 1/2 full tank. Reluctant to just replace the Fuel Sending Unit again, expect it will have a similar problem.

are you using a factory pump or aftermarket pump big difference..

The second fuel pump was replaced by the dealership while under Warrenty. Assume it a factory replacement.

Yeah what's you saying is right, and GM is having a big problem with Fuel Pump on such model, I Already saw a 2 Year Cobalt with a Dead Fuel Pump.. ! Best thing is Keep your tank more than the Quarter, Buy a Dealer Fuel Pump not a Jobber one, be sure the strainer is clean in the tank and check if there's any dirt in your Fuel tank ! Check too if there's any Recall about that on your Vehicle !

Yess that's right, but now the warranty is passed except if you took an extended warranty on your vehicle and if you tell me the fuel pump is still on warranty, I would be impressed about that it's been 2 year's ! I Was telling you, if you replace again the fuel pump before it die out and you get stuck on-a-side of the road somewhere else, don't buy a jobber, replace it by a dealer one !

Increase of engine temperature while AC on and when idle or slow moving traffic? 70 k miles 2003 Yukon XL 4x4, Fan clutches replaced and problem still exist

it is normal for a vehicles engine temp to increase while using the air conditioning. but if it is actually overheating or giving you a temp waring then you might need the radiator serviced or possibly just spray the dead bugs out of it with a sprayer. if the air can't flow because of dead bugs then it can't dissipate thew heat very well, but at highway speeds the airflow is great enough to make up for the blockage.

just a thought, hope this helps

How do you find and fill the radiator in 2003 GMC Yukon XL

Some of these vehicles have a false petcock. Pop off the lower hose over a catch pan, pour a gallon of water in the plastic Dexcool Coolant bottle and put the hose back on when it stops pouring out. Fill to the max line and run the car until both radiator hoses are hot (thermostat has opened). Replenish fluid to max line and cap the bottle. If you have electric fans make sure they come on and make sure your temp. gauge stays in the middle. It'll take longer on cooler days. You might have to get in the car and gas it to about 2000 rpms. Don't cap the bottle until the thermostat opens. If it vomits, change the thermostat and again make sure the electric fans kick on or the clutch fan speeds up at about 210 degrees.

04 gmc yukon heater air cold passanger side.

If this happens when you are idle, and then you get hot air as you drive, most likely you have low coolant and it only cycles as you drive. Get approved dextrom gmc coolat and cap off your coolant it is most likely low.

Why does my 03 yukon xl speedometer gradually flats to 0 while driving. it does not stall. it does it at least 1 a month specially in long trips or high speeds. when i arrive to destination it cools off...

It is probable that the cable for the speedometer is streached and your MPH reading is incorrect all or most of the time, get a friend to drive behind you at say 55 MPH so you will know the odometer reading ( may prevent speeding ticket )
All metal expands when heated and contracts as it cools. Your cable becomes slack when hot. Stay Safe!

I have a 2003 Yukon XL 1500 with the 5.3L engine. Twice in the last week when I was on the Interstate and had the cruise control on the vehicle unexpectedly stalled and I had to guide it to the shoulder....

there are a few causes for this to happen
I just put a fuel pump in yesterday in a 04 yokon XL with the same issue
it had a plugged fuel filter, and low fuel pressure.
Same complaint, coming from CA to TX, freeway speed cruise on and it just dies.

The vehilce needs to be looked at, and have vehilce scanned for codes.

I hope this helps.
