I have a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire. The rad cooling fan has been tested and is good. It doesn't come on at all when the car gets hot. Do you have a solution for this issue?

SOURCE: my 1998 pontiac sunfire is getting hot but not overheating

the fan may be bad but you can find the hot side of the plug and run a hot to the battery and see if the fan comes on. if it doesent you know you have a bad fan if it does you can run a wire to the fuse panel so that it comes on when the car does and shuts off when you shut the car off

SOURCE: Were is the thermostat located in a Pontiac Sunfire 2000?

Hi:
Your thermostat is located under the thermostat housing, which is what the upper radiator hose clamps to on the top of your engine. Basically, you need to start with a cold engine, drain your radiator, then unclamp the upper radiator hose from the engine. Remove the bolts from the thermostat housing, and gently tap on it to remove it. clean up the mounting surfaces on both the engine and the housing, and install a new thermostat, and new gasket. tighten to proper torque, reconnect the radiator hose, then refill up the radiator and cooling system.

I have a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 its saying its overheating but no smoke under hood also blowing cold air then it finally blows hot air and temp gage goes down

I would start at thermostat. It could be it is sticking and taking a long time to open. If it isn't a bad stat then I'd say there is a good chance it could be a head issue. either the gasket or the head itself. Have you overheated it lately? Also make sure your cooling fan is running after thermostat opens up. If you want to check the heads have a compression test done to make sure. Hope this helps.

Pontiac sunfire overheating

hello! I had the same problem with my 2000 Pontiac Sunfire... there might be one of these 2 problems with it.... maybe the Heater Core is jammed and the coolant dosen't flow thru the engine to cool it off, or the water pump is defective.... does the heating works or not? if yes, the water pump is defect, if not, the heater core is jammed, try a ''radiator hose cleaner'' (sold in Napa's or Carquest..) it will act as a kind of ''decloaker''.. if works, good! 15$ solution... if not, replace Heater Core... ~150$

1998 Pontiac Sunfire Symptoms: -Overheating

What are you going by to say it's overheating , temp gauge ? Have you test to see what the actual temp. is > Hook - up a scan tool ,what's the PCM - engine computer seeing for engine temp. ? 223 degress the PCM should turn on the cooling fan . You could buy a Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer With Laser Targeting at harbor freight ! Radiator very hot ????? What is the right temp .
Non Contact Infrared Thermometer With Laser Targeting

Could be a bad temp gauge . Is the coolant surging inside the cooling system ? Does it have a radiator cap ? Have you replaced it ?

02 sunfire overheating

make sure you have radiator full of coolant
run the car to operating temperature
check the operation of the cooling fan
feel the upper radiator hose and the lower radiator hose. they both should be hot.
if one is cold then you may have a bad thermostat or restricted flow
if cooling fan does not come on when engine is hot then you have bad cooling fan switch, relay or motor.
good luck

Cooling fan

Yes, it's probably the PCM. I had the same problem, and upon replacing the PCM it started working again. If your cooling sending unit is new, and so many parts of your fan assembly are new, it's probably not receiving the signal from the sending unit. Hope this helps.
