Check the vacume pipes for leaks and cracks.
i have a 1985 port - 82crossfire-h4hpx0jsheu3g5mx3tchb5rl-4-0.gif Im hoping this is the engine as there is a number of different engines codes. but any sensor like air intake sensor or map sensor will need cleaning if it has bee stud as the dust will settle and stick to them, then engine will not get right information, also check the timing as a belt stud in the same place for a long time can stretch and even mold to the engine a can cause timing to be out. any engine that has been stud for long time even 5 years is a long time to be stud, will need an oil change and filters, if the spark plug leads are hard or crispy they will need replacing they should be soft and be able to wiggle. Iv heard of seafoam being used on an engine not been run for 10 years and that seam to clean out all the hard build up in the engine, but there is others you can use, but you need one that will be able to be sucked into the engine by the intake. injectors can stick or be clocked with old fuel residue. idle controller will probably need cleaning out aswell, use carb cleaner, MAF/MAP sensor needs a made for cleaner MAF has its own cleaner and is only for the MAF would thing carb cleaner would be fine for the map sensor, spray it inside and shack out again do this a few times. just to make sure its clean and any muck is out.

SOURCE: 1998 Chevy tahoe Hard to start when cold

Hello, yes the check valve is in the fuel pump assembly. The check valve is leaking and the pump will burn out soon. Unfortunately the aftermarket fuel pumps can be very unreliable. A good portion of problems we see on this site are from people who replace the pump sometimes twice and it still doesn't work.

SOURCE: 1998 Chevy tahoe Hard to start when cold

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump

SOURCE: aircondition does not drain fould molding smell

yes the dealer has a special machine that sanitizes the AC system and kills the mold that causes the smell, the chemical they use is not approved for sale to the public so they must do the job.

SOURCE: 1985 corvette--will not start, has code 15,

Hello dstachler.

50 PSI fuel pressure on that engine is within range.

Yes, a temperature sensor out of range can cause a no start.
If the engine is cold and the sensor reading high will not allow enough fuel to fire the engine.
Cold engines require more fuel.
It's like trying to start a carburated engine cold without a choke.
I often have seen it the other way as well. A hot engine with a low reading will flood the engine.

So there is some advise for you. Hope it helps you along.
Thank you for using FixYa.

1985 corvette, 64,000 miles. idles rough and sounds like it wants to die but doesn't; can watch rpm drop and come back. Just changed the egr valve too. What should I try next or look into?

Your problem can have multiple sources. Spark plugs, change those if they are old. Injectors can be dirty. There are injector cleaning products that you can try. The best I have seen is one that you inject the cleaning solution into the system via shrader valve at the fuel rail, disable the fuel pump and run the car only with the cleaning solution that is coming from a pressurized container.
At the same time change your fuel filter. If your distributor rotor cap and spark plug wires are old, replace those. There is an idle control air valve that regulates your idle. That could be a source of the problem also. Query the on board computer and see if you have any codes. My advice, start with the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and fuel filter if they are old and go from there. That should be an easy task that does not demand a lot of skills. See if that helps.

When car is in idle all is well but as soon as I go and hit the accelerator the power bogs down. As soon as I let up on the pedal the car runs at normal idle again.

1- could be spark plugs fouled.
2-Fuel injection system needs adjustment or repair.
3-Fuel filter clogged
4-incorrect ignition timing
5-Intake manifold air leak

This should get you started on the right trac....

You probably have a bad fuel pump. Get a fuel pressure gauge and check for fuel pressure at the shrader valve. Put the key to the on position. Your fuel pump should run for about 2 seconds. Your pressure should go up to 30-40 psi. If no pressure your pump is bad. Make sure you hear the relay come on, otherwise could be the relay. You should hear it click when you turn the key to the on position.

Chevy 305 small-block engine runs good has a bad idle and dies when idling. I used a 350 intake and ignition system and put onto the 305 and need to know what to look for to make idle

if this is a fuel injected engine youll most likely have to replace the idle speed control sensor this should solve that problem.youll have to get one for the intake that you put in the car(one for the year and engine size of the replacement parts)

1985 conrvette

poss. is fuel pressure reg. problem. put a guage on the test port and check press. should be above 35psi. see if it stays running when you spray choke cleaner in the pcv valve steadily while starting. if the engine stays running after a few seconds of running on choke cleaner then probably a bad fuel pump relay cause the oil pressure switch will keep the pump on without the relay when it has good oil pressure.
let me know if ya can do this or if it helps.
