I have a 2004 chevrolet suburban with a 5.3L and 100,000 plus miles. After driving for a little bit the engine will lose power, run rough and die. Can wait about 5 to 10 mins before engine will start again. The code i get is P0430. I was told i needed to replace my y-pipe. Do u think this is right?

If there are cat converters on it they are probably plugged.
not sure y pipe will do it. unless he punches out the cats while putting in a y pipe.

SOURCE: 2000 s10 Blazer dies very 3-6 weeks for no reason

i would check your ignition system. you would need a meter for this but look for broke or loose connections. if it was a fuel problem i dont think it would just start up after 20 minutes. or you might try your ignition switch. if its shorting or something then ya well it would cut your engine off real quick

SOURCE: 1998 chevy K1500 timing runs ok for 10 miles then loses all pwr

1-timing on truck is ajusted by ecm, when u moved it u cause cam sensor code because it detected timing was off! 2-o2 sensors has the role of detecting air to fuel ratio coming out of exhaust, sends signal to ecm wich collects data from other sensors from that sets timing for best performance,if ecm detects something wrong in system data it will give engine code, that code will point at problem area,in your case o2 sensors probably detected lean fuel ratio that points to fuel system, blocked fuel filter or fuel pump faillure, elect, circuit damage, hope it helped!

SOURCE: 1999 Suburban, 5.7L loss of power then, it seems

Replace spark plug wires and plugs. Sometimes old wires will arc to the engine block, causing missfire. Check the wires at night with lights off and engine running, if they're bad, you'll defenitely see them arcing to the engine. if they are...replace.

99 suburban runs rough throughout driving range little bit of backfire wants to die but rumbles on.

Any Service Engine light? If so, the first thing that should be done is to get whatever codes are stored. Most part stores will hook up a generic code reader for free.

My 2004 Expedition is idles rough sometimes to the point that it dies. I have never had any problem at all with this vehicle. It has almost a 100,000 miles and all that I have done is change the oil and...

Sounds like the fuel injectors are dirty. run a bottles of STP or other fuel injector cleaner in the next two tanks of gas. Also if not done before change the fuel filter inline from the tank. Or maybe change the air filter, especially if you have been driving in an area that is very dusty. If the filter is clogged or full it will restrict the flow. These are some cheap fixes. If they done work then you can have the injectors cleaned at a shop but that is a bit more expensive. I hope this helps.

Found a little coolant on dip stick car not

Head gasket is usually the number ONE culprit. Hard to say without doing a diagnostic. Are you sure it is coolant and NOT condensation? Is it there when you check the oil HOT and COLD? How much coolant are you losing?

Vehicle dies

Sounds like a possible fuel pump problem...When they begin to go bad they will overheat and lock up, then work fine for a while and do the same thing again. By changing the filter you lowered the flow resistance and allowed the pump to work a bit easier but still being bad, it did the same thing again. There are other things that can do this as well, but pump is most common.

Lose power while driving

Hi. I had the same problem on my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins. I went to the dealer and they did a bunch of diagnostics and they replaced my fuel pump. At the same time they put in a retrofit kit that moved the fuel pump to the inside of the gas tank. I have not had the problem since. The cost was about $1,200, but my 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty covered it and I had to pay the $100 deductible.
