I purchased the 2007 Hyundai Entourage with dual sliding doors new from dealer and it came with remote key fob. 3 years later the fob doesn't work. I see in the manual how to replace the battery. Will I have to have the fob reprogrammed after replacing the battery? If so, about how much will reprogramming cost?
Re: I purchased the 2007 Hyundai Entourage with dual...
No you wil not have to reprogram if you examine the unit and establish how you are going to change battery quickly.
you have about a minute to change the battery and the unit will retain the info.
if you lose the info you can obtain a sequence code that you can perform yourself.
it is usually a system of key in and out and a number of turns in time within the ignition

go to any Toyota dealer. They will sell you a new key fob but they also charge extra for programming. Total cost for the key fob and programming will be around $100. any Toyota dealer can do it for you
key fobs are programmed with the engine CPU unit and it is necessary to have the car and the key at a service dealer shop so that their machine can do the job. If the dealer you spoke to could not be bothered to help you then go to one who can . Go on line to Hyundai customer relations department and state your case very positively as they will not be happy with the dealer . After all it is not the dealer that suffers , it is the manufacturer's brand name that becomes dirt.
if you have the original remote, you can do it yourself. My remote was working without a problem until the other day when all of a sudden it didn't work out of nowhere. I thought it was the battery (might have been and needed to be reprogrammed after replacing it) so I changed it. Still didn't work. So I did a search and found the following instructions: Click Here
The answer is remarkably simple: 1. Get in the car and close the door. 2. Turn the key to the ACC position 3. Push the unlock button on the remote until the blinkers flash once. 4. Get out of the car and test the remote. It should be working fine. ( I actually was able to test it while in the car)
If your keyless entry remote has never worked it either needs to be programmed to the vehicle or it is the incorrect remote part number for they vehicle. First step is to call your local dealership, ask for service, then verify your vehicle came equipped with the keyless entry option and verify the key fob part number. When calling the dealer have your vin# handy, they will need that. Once you have verified your vehicle has keyless entry option and you have the correct keyless entry remote part number then find a locksmith to program the remote to your vehicle. We suggest a locksmith because they are usually more affordable than the dealer and they come to you.
If your keyless entry remote has worked before and it just stopped working, here are a few tips to try to get it working again:
1) Change the battery
Batteries don't last forever, you'll be surprised how often it's just a dead battery! Search our YouTube channel on how to change a key fob battery for your specific year, make, and model!
2) Wipe the board
The board inside your remote can get a lot more filthy than you think! When the board is dirty it can prohibit the contact to the circuit board when you push down on the button. Simply wiping the circuit board off can make your key fob like new again!
3) Get it checked
Go to your local hardware store like AutoZone or Oreilly's. They usually have a RF frequency tester. This little gadget will let you know if your key fob is sending a signal. If it is, you may need to reprogram your key fob to your vehicle
4) The old car battery reset trick
I know this sounds absurd, but it works sometimes and is worth trying. If you exhausted all of the options above, disconnect both terminals on your car battery for 10 minutes. Then reconnect them and try your key fob. This has worked for many people and I have no idea why. If you do, please comment below to explain.
5) New fob!
It might be time for a new key fob! No need to dread over the expensive costs of a new key fob, at Keyless Entry Remote Fob Inc., you can get a refurbished one for a very affordable price! You won't even be able to tell the difference. Just search your vehicle make, model, and year to purchase a key fob or give us a call at 402-671-5100.
You sure it's the original Keyless Remote (key fob) programmed for the vehicle? If so, you, yourself, cannot reprogram it.. you have to take the vehicle into an authorized Hyundai Dealership to have the remote programmed for the vehicle or have the problem diagnosed... sorry!
