You will have to retrieve the engine faulty code with a scanner to see.
Explaining in some case when the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) sense a problem for some code it will deactivate the TRACTION system for security.
I believe there is a faulty code after the code is solved then erase all codes and try again. The TRACTION light should be back on.
Hope it helps.

I have this same problem and had it checked. It is the wheel sensor. Mine is the passenger front right wheel sensor. According to the mechanic I take it to the GrandAm's are known for this. The part is about $40.

Are you sure it needs a head gasket? These are common for just having leaking intake gaskets and that is alot easier and cheaper to fix.

I have the same car and if the gas cap is loos for any reason the service engine light will come on so check that. If it is it will turn off in a few days after you tighten it.

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

These lights have nothing to with the engine work, unless they disconnected or damaged your abs sensors. it sounds like they need replaced, problem is they are integrated into the hub/bearing assembly. when you replace the hub(s) be certain not to over-torque the axle nut, as this would simply redamage the hub
