There's not a whole lot that needs to be said about this particular question - it's pretty straightforward. In order for you to remove and reinstall the injector pump on your 2002 Ford F250 MWM Sprint 4.2L engine, you'll need the following tools and supplies:
-A wrench set
-Extension cord
-Jack
-Hammer
-Socket set
-Plyer hammer
-Torque wrench
-Phillips screwdriver
-Socket extension (if needed)
-New injector pump (if needed)
-Radiator hoses (if needed)
There are a few different ways that you could go about removing and reinstalling an injector pump on a 2002 Ford F250 MWM Sprint 4.2L engine. The most direct and simple route would be to remove the entire engine and replace the pump assembly. Alternately, you could remove just the pump and install it in a new location. In either case, it is important to replace the gaskets, seals, and o-rings as they will likely have deteriorated over time.
In a diesel there is 3 potential problems:
1) Fuel filter needs replacement - known problem - replace every 25k
2) Fuel line needs replacement in Tank - known problem.
3) Fuel pump is at life cycle end - If you increase speed and the van appears to lag in power this is probably it. Located under rail on driver's side.
It's sounds like its getting air some where...could be the fuel injector...can you specify more clear. My friend had the same year same make and same problem brought it back to dealer I think they changed a bad injector. Maybe there's a recall
not to sure on model but could be injectors or the inbjector pump not fuel pump as this only send fuel to engine injector pump send fuel to injectors hope this helps
check to see that your mechanical fuel pump is working on the lower right side of the engine. VERY problematic pump due to design and location. Have you replaced your fuel filter with the injector pump swap? cause you need to do that , its a must
If your getting fuel to your injector pump you have to bleed the lines to each cylinder to bleed out the air in the system.
If that all checks out then you need to set the timing to 8 deg using a timing light and a diesel injection pulse width adapter timing tool.
purchase a haynes manuel for 6.9l/7.3l diesel engines to follow the correct procedure for setting timing to manufactures spec.
You will have to disconnect sensor at certain times during the timing stage so make sure it is done right!
PS - I hope you marked a reference line on the pump to line up with the line on the housing cause that will get you close to start!
good luck
most diesels don't have a fuel pressure regulator, The primary pump pressurizes a fuel loop keeping fuel ready for the injector pump.
Throw in a few filters and thats about it.
And you certainly don't want to mess with the injector pump.
i had to replace my oil pressure regulator sensor it contols the oil pressure required to have the injectors open and spit fuel, if you replaced it and still no start replace the the cam position sensor
