Hi

1. Remove the black trim panel holding the cruise control and sport mode buttons from around the shifter. There are 4 clips holding the panel on: upper left, lower left upper right and lower right. Be careful, they break easily. Remove the wires from the buttons.
2. There are two brackets holding the wood panel down, one on each side of the shifter. Remove the two screws holding down each bracket. Be sure you note the orientation of the brackets - it will make reinstallation easier. Lift off the wood trim panel.
3. Under the wood trim you just removed, there are four bolts fastening the console to the car. Remove them.
4. Open the console lid. Remove the two screws fastening the latch strike plate. Again, make note of the positioning of the latch plate for reinstallation
5. Remove any other screws retaining the console compartment. Lift out the compartment liner. Close the console lid.
6. At the rear of the console is a trim cover. It is held by two tension clips. Just pull it off.
7. There are two bolts under the rear trim cover - remove them.
8. Remove the console.
9. Remove the screws holding the radio in the dashboard and pull the radio forward.
10. Remove the antenna wire and wiring harness connectors from the back of the radio.
11. Unbolt the ground wire from the back of the radio.

Reinstall in reverse order.

SOURCE: how do i get radio code for 98 xk8 ?

In addtion to the Owners Manual, there are many other ancillary manuals included Audio Systems Handbook, Passport to Service, Vehicle care, and more with my car (a 2000 XK8). There is a separate plastic container holding ~6x9" envelope labelled "Security Radio Code Information" and containing a light yellow folder. In that folder are two credit cards - each stating the 4-digit security code and the 8-digit Radio Serial Number. The folder says: "Should you lose your code cards, contact your Jaguar dealer. You may be charged for removal of the radio to ascertain the radio chassis number." It also gives instructions on how to enter the code. It says that the radio will lock up if its power drops to below 5 volts or less or there is a power interruption/disconnect. If you enter the wrong code 3 times, the radio will not take another attempt for 1 hour. Look in the glovebox carefully - it has an upper shelf that can hold these documents in addition to the drop down glvoebox container. If the Radio Code is lost...it looks like there is no alternative to dealer involvement.

SOURCE: 98 xk8 no sound system

artielou, I assume that you've checked the fuse panel in the passenger compartment. There is a fuse and relay panel under the hood in the engine compartment. Get a 12 volt test light or multimeter and start tracing the lines from the master panel under the hood to the panel inside until you find the broken conection or blown fuse. Try to have as much patience as possible in that electrical systems sometimes have a mind of their own. Good Luck, quicbric (the volvo man)

How do i get radio code for 98 xk8 ?

I just bought my 1998 XK8 and it still has the owners manual. It says that there was a code for the radio on a card that was issued with the car when it was purchased. (no card was in the book I recieved) It goes on to say that if you lose the card the only way to get the radio code is to contact a Jag dealer with proof of ownerhsip and they will provide a code.

Hope that helps.
