O2 sensor bank1 sensor 1 where is it located on - prev.gif Oxygen Sensor I think that bank1 sensor1 stands for the upstream o2 sensor vs. the sensor2 which is the downstream o2 sensor. Both the 4 cyl. and 6 cyl. employ 2 o2 sensors.

If you get it wrong, changing both might be a good idea.
Removal & Installation 2.4L Engine NOTE: These engines use 2 heated oxygen sensors.
Upstream HO2S1 To Remove:
NOTE: If the engine temperature is lower than 120 °F (48 °C), the HO2S1 sensor may be difficult to remove. Excessive force could possibly damage the threads in the exhaust manifold.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
  4. Using an oxygen sensor removal tool carefully remove the heated oxygen sensor.
To Install:
  1. Clean the threads in the exhaust manifold with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap.
  2. If reusing the original sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound. New sensors come treated with anti-seize compound on the threads and do not require an additional coating.
  3. Install and tighten the sensor 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  4. Connect the electrical connector and install the wiring on the bracket.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
Downstream HO2S2 To Remove:
NOTE: If the engine temperature is lower than 120 °F (48 °C), the HO2S 2 sensor may be difficult to remove. Excessive force could possibly damage the threads in the exhaust pipe.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oxygen sensor.
  4. Use an oxygen sensor socket to remove the sensor from the catalytic converter.
To Install:
  1. If reusing the original sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound. New sensors come treated with anti-seize compound on the threads and do not require an additional coating.
  2. Install and tighten the sensor 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
3.3L & 3.8L Engines NOTE: These engines use 2 heated oxygen sensors.
Upstream HO2S1 To Remove:
NOTE: If the engine temperature is lower than 120 °F (48 °C), the HO2S1 sensor may be difficult to remove. Excessive force could possibly damage the threads in the exhaust manifold.
  1. Remove the battery and battery tray.
  2. Disconnect the speed control vacuum harness from servo.
  3. Remove the cruise control servo and bracket. Place it out of the way.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oxygen sensor.
  5. Use an oxygen sensor socket to remove the sensor.

After fill ups, engine light indicates deffective 02 sensor bank1. On a '04, Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.8.

You must have duel exhast then. Bank 1 is the drivers side and you have a upper and lower o2 sensor. More than likely it is the upper o2 sensor that is the problem.

2002 dodge caravan engine light on code showing p0135 .please advice.thanks.

  • O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction - Bank 1 - Sensor 1
  • Basically the ECM Electronic Control Unit has determined your O2 sensor is taking to long to begin reacting properly.
  • The causes could be
  1. O2 heater element resistance could be to high.
  2. An internal short or opening in the heater element.
  3. O2 heater circuit wiring with high resistance.
  4. Open or short to ground in the wiring harness.

  • The fixes are
  1. Check the harness and connector to the O2 sensor for shorts or ground.
  2. Replace that O2 sensor.

  • Bank 1 sensor 1 location for this vehicle is located on the exhaust manifold back by the firewall on top of the manifold..
  • Thank you for using FixYa

Where are the O2 sensor located on a 1997 Dodge caravan sport' and how many are there?

There are 2 o2 sensors on the caravan upstream+downstream
The downstream sensor is located on the exaust pipe at the
converter. As I don't know what engine you have, the upstream
sensors are located as follows
2.4 on exaust manifold firewall side of engine
3.0 on manifold near alternator
3.3+3.8 center of manifold firewall side

Error code p0032 on 2004 dodge caravan. what is the code?

Hi.

P0032 means HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 1).

It means high impedance from O2 sensor, check wiring to sensor and replace the sensor.
Check O2 sensor located in bank 1 (cylinder 1 side- see here), and after the catalitic converter (there is also an O2 sensor before cat converter).
