prolly electric choke not working properlly. with eng cool remove breather cover on carb. start eng and watch butterfly valve it should start to open slowly as eng gets warm. when eng reaches 190 deg or so it should be open all the way (vertical) if not it will need adj or possible replaced
After an oil change, or when "CHANGE OIL"
appears on the Trip Monitor, with the ignition on and engine off, press the
"ENG MET" button (located on trip monitor) once. Press the "ENG MET" button
again within 5 seconds. Within 5 seconds, press and hold the "RANGE" button
(1990-1994) or "GAUGES" button (1995). The light will flash. When it stops
flashing and goes out, the system is reset.

TRY THIS TRICK .THE PASSIVE SWITCH IN OFF POSITION. STAND 5 FT OF THE VECHICLE .PRESS AND HOLD REMOTE TRANSMITTER LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS FOR 7 SECONDS.HORN CHIRPS TO CONFIRM SYNCHRONIZATION. NOW SWITCH IGNITION ON. SWITCH RADIO OFF. PRESS THE RESET BUTTON ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER DIC IN ORDER TO CLEAR ANY INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER IPC WARNING MESSAGES. PRESS AND RELEASE THE OPTIONS BUTTON ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER DIC TO SCROLL THROUGH OPTIONS UNTIL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER IPC DISPLAY IS BLANK.PRESS AND HOLD THE RESET BUTTONS FOR 3 SECONDS. PRESS THE OPTIONS BUTTON UNTIL FOB TRAINING MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED.PRESS THE RESET BUTTON IN ORDER TO START THE PROGRAMMING MODE.THE MESSAGE HOLD LK +.UNLK 1ST FOB WILL BE DISPLAYED. Resetting Engine oil Life Monitor
1, turn key to on, but do not start.
2. Press ENG MET button on the Trip Monitor within five seconds.
3. Within five seconds of step 2, press and hold RANGE button on the Trip Monitor. The CHANGE OIL light will flash.
4.Hold the RANGE button until the CHANGE OIL light stops flashung and goes out. This should take about 10 seconds.
If it doesn't reset turn key off and repeat the procedure. Careful to observe the "within 5 seconds"

Unless there is something wrong with you buttons the procedure is as follows: 1. Turn ignition key to ON (not start) 2. Press ENG MET button on trip monitor & release, then press it again within 5 seconds. 3. Within 5 seconds again press and hold GAUGES button until Change Oil lamp flashes. 4. Continue Holding Gauges button until lamp stops flashing & goes out. 5. You should be done, start & shut off car. If it didn't work turn off car and start from top.
Some buttons are very sensitive so try and be deliberate & steady when holding.
1. Turn the key to “Run,” but don’t start

When the light goes out, the monitoirs
reset. If the monitor doesn’tr eset, turn the
ignition off, then try again.
You have a shorted engine harness, this is not common but it does happen, heat and engine movement cause damage to the harness, this is most common on hi miler cars and vans, the only way to fix it is to start by looking anywhere the harness rubs, that is where the damage occurs.
