You are probably looking at a regulator or motor.

  • Anonymous Jul 29, 2010

You said it only goes down, if you have power at the motor harness with down button pressed, and then power (A different wire) with button pressed up, your motor or regulator is bad. (Regulators get sticky and the motor can move it.)

My passenger side power window will not go down. The motor is going (works), switch was replaced. I tested the wires going to the motor and it's getting power. The really odd part is it randomly works...

Could be the driver side switch. there is a power pass thru in the driver controls that if the contacts get corroded will start to cause slow and intermittent operation. Measure the voltage at the motor while actuating both the driver and passenger controls for the problem window. Also, while actuating the passenger side switch, jiggle the driver control switch to see if any change can be affected.

Passenger window switch works but the drivers side switch does not

was regulator bad? did it work from drivers side switch before you did regulator repair?..if so passenger side switch wiring has issue and is not sending signal through it back to the drivers side master switches.. otherwise you need to pin test for power up power down on drivers side switch and repair that if issue going to the window on passenger side.. (possible pinched at door jam area common)

Hyundai ix35 2012 window lock stuck. passenger window half down and cant get it to move up or down

Before you replace anything, inspect the connector pins in both the driver's door switch and the passenger door switch. If you don't find any problem with these connector pins, replace the driver's door control switch.

I have a 2000 gmc 1500. The switch on the passenger side door does not operate the window, up or down. Neither does the drivers side. But you can hear the relay click in the switch. This has been an on...

.
The passenger side is powered thru the driver's switch, so I would start with checking for power and ground at the driver's switch.
Could be the master switch or a problem in the harness between the driver's door and the cab. There may also be a relay for the windows in the engine compartment.

2000 ford f250 passanger side window wont go up

Check the wires on the driver's door between the door and the post. A break in a wire will affect the passenger side.

Just installed a new power window switch on the passenger side it goes down but wont go up, but if you use the master on driver side it goes up and down confused. got a 2nd new switch and it did the same...

Is it TRYING to go up but can't? You could have high resistance in the ground circuit to the passenger switch. It takes a LOT less power to move the window down than it does to make it go up. There mak be good enough ground to the switch to make it go down, bt not up.

Since it works from the driver's door, this pretty much eliminates the B+ circits and the grounds for the driver's switch. Since the passenger switch itself has been replaced twice, I would think that eliminates the switch itself as the cause. The ground circuit to the passenger switch is the only thing left.

This theory can be easilly verified by running a jumper from Pin "J" BLACK wire at the passenger switch t the battery negative post. If the window now goes up and down from the passenger switch, the ground circuit needs to be repaired.

Wher is the power window relay for 1996 s-10 truck

Your problem is likely in the master switch on the driver side. Try getting a drivers door switch from the junkyard. I have a 96 Silhouette that I experienced the same problem with. After changing out the motor, and the passenger switch I finally traced it to the master switch. Power goes to the drivers door switch first and then over to the passenger door. It could actually be both switches. A bad relay would affect both windows not just the one side.

Replace window switch for 1997 el dorado

I have the same problem. I just replaced the switch ($60 from the Internet) Easy replacement, but the problem persists, Here is my next plan of attack... The PCM (vehicle computer controls the power windows for your vehicle. check the power window relay under the hood before repairing PCM. Also the cheapest way is to call local garage and ask if they have a TECH2 scanner to talk to the PCM. The Dealer will charge you about $95hr. to do this.

2000 GMC Jimmy SLE driver's power window

The same thing happened to my 1999 JMC Jimmy recently. I believe the problem is that your power window motor has most likely gone out or is starting to go out. The motor will need replaced. They are pretty expensive new. I went to a junkyard and got one for around 15 dollars. When mine went bad, I had rolled my window down about three or four inches and it stuck there. I took my door panel off and tapped on the motor while holding up on the window switch and got it to go up after a few minutes. I am replacing my motor today, I'll leave an update here about the outcome when I finish the job. I hope this information helps you.

Frying power window switches

I had a similar problem in my 1993 Safari. Problem turned out NOT to be a switch, but a broken wire in the driver side door opening between the door and the frame. I found a cut in the wiring insulation, and it corroded, breaking. This disabled the window control.
