SOURCE: phillips cassette adapter ploblems

take the adptor apart, lube the gears and put them back. Test by using your finger to turn the two "holes" on the tape in both direction and see if it works. If they do, then you are probably good to go. When you insert the tape, you can gently apply some pressure downward to the tape if you have space to do so. It works tat way for my 1988 toyota camry with stock stereo. Good luck!

SOURCE: CD will accept disc but spits it out after a few seconds

Dirty Read Lens. Usually dust.
Dirty Disc Present detector - ditto
Dirty or bad motor drive

To fix:
Blast it with pressurized air from side to side thru the Disc opening when it is open and empty. DO NOT stick the nozzle in more than 2" or you may hit the lens and carrier and ruin it.

Try again 3-4x. If it doesn't get better it is prob the CD motor and will need a techie (like me) to tshoot and fix

Good Luck!

HOW DO I FIX THIS MY CASSETTE PLAYER OUT OF NO WHERE STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AND WILL EJECT THE ADAPTER OUT .

First, nobody has used the Cassette Adapters since Milli Vanilli got caught Lip-Synching and Mike Tyson got knocked out by Buster Douglas. U can buy a new radio on ebay for under $30 that has what is now called an "Auxiliary" cord or "Aux" cord.

Second, if u are set on keeping that stone-age paper weight u call a radio (I had one of these too, up 'till 2 yrs ago), try to play an actual cassette tape. See if it gives u the same results that the adapter gave u. If it does then the problem is in the radio and it might cost more to fix than it's worth. If it doesn't give u the same results, then try to find what is referred to as a "cassette deck cleaner kit." After u follow the directions on the kit try the adapter again. If the issue continues, then try a new adapter. By this point u are probably going to be 1/2 way to the $30 it cost for a new radio. Short of that, there isn't much else u can do unless u want to open up the radio but again, not worth the trouble.
Good luck.

If you cannot get the cassette player fixed I would recommend replacing the radio instead of going to a service center as it would be cheaper.

2000 Ford Escort ZX2. I have a tape adapter, every time I put it in the tape player is spits it out. It will go in and out three times. I'd rather get this fixed than go buy a whole new stereo installation...

On the tape adapter you have to switch the side the wire comes from. The zx2 reads the cassette in the opposite direction than how the tape is normally played. Had the same problem and ended up breaking my radio try to force the tape to stay in :(

E 10 tape deck error/ tapes keep spitting out

The radio checks to make sure the drive capstan is turning - if not, gives the E10 error. Either the drive belt in the radio is slipping or the drive wheel in the adapter is sticking. If it does it with a real cassette, then it's probably the drive belt. If not, you can try to figure out why the wheel in the adapter is not turning freely.

Those adapters are barely functional at best. You will never get good sound, even if it was working perfectly. I tried one but then bought an aftermarket stereo.

Plastic box of wires to big for my new cd player after taking my old cassette player out

You wll need a stereo installation adapter kit. This will change the dash opening to the size you need, oftentimes by replacing an entire dash panel for a factory look.

Here is a link to the dash kit for your car at Best Buy. These will come with detailed instructions. Let me know if this helps :)

Audio display says check cd

This may be a bit late to help, but I just had the same problem yesterday. Same car (2000 Monte Carlo SS), but mine is just the CD/radio stereo (no cassette). I was able to solve it by pulling the fuse for the radio (it's in the right-side panel) and letting it sit for a minute. After putting it back in, the CD player made the disc ejecting sound one time (no "check CD" message) and stayed off. And now it seems to be working fine. We'll see how long it lasts, though.
