Wifes sunroof is open and will not close. Checked fuse it has pwr, removed switch it does not have power ... a ground problem at the sunroof motor...where is that?

First off this is controlled by a module (computer) The switch would only have five volts . 5volt reference voltage from the control module . Not knowing how to test the electrical circuit's for this could be expensive . Short out the module or 5 volt ref. voltage circuit inside the module.
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Look at a wiring diagram here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on body & accessories ,then under subsystem click sun roof . Then click search button then the blue link . Now tell me you under stand what's happening here .

Power Sunroof System Components
The power sunroof system consists of the following components:
• Sunroof control module
• Sunroof Opening Position Switch (SOPS)
• Sunroof switch
• Sunroof motor/actuator
• Sunroof glass (spoiler type, with glass sliding above roof)
• Sunshade
• Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof glass rides
• Power supply for the sunroof control module: SUNROOF 20 A fuse
• Ground from G302

Sunroof Opening Position Switch (SOPS)
The SOPS tracks the position of the glass through 2 limit switches:
• Soft stop limit
• Vent limit
The sunroof control module monitors the limit switches and based on the inputs determines the position of the sunroof glass. As a limit switch closes, the 5 volt reference will be shorted to the sunroof limit switch low reference circuit, pulling down the 5 volt reference to 0 volts.
The sunroof control module understands the position of the sunroof glass based on the different input combinations through the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal and sunroof limit switch open vent signal circuits.

Power Sunroof Does Not Close
Perform the Initialization/Teach Process any time a new sunroof motor actuator is installed in the vehicle or any time an existing sunroof motor actuator is removed from the vehicle. Refer to Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process .

I have a 1999 chevy blazer I cannot close the

The sunroof is powered by the same circuit breaker that power's your power window, so if your windows work than the circuit breaker should be good. You needed test the switch to verify if works with; on the factory sunroof system the roof is controled by a sunroof module the module receives a signal from the switch then throws voltage to the sunroof motor. The motor and module are located between the sunroof assembly and windshield underneath the head liner. You would reconnected the switch and test to see if the sunroof motor is getting power when the switch is in use by testing the dark green wire when closing and a light green wire when opening. Test these wires at the sunroof motor with a ohm meter or test light. Also, check this procedure to repair...

The windows and sun roof doesnt work i think i have a blown fuse

The fuse and relay box on the E30 and E36 models is located in the engine compartment. The E36 models also has relay boxes located under the left side of the dashboard.

Circuit Breakers
Resetting & Replacement

Circuit breakers are located inside the fuse panel. They are automatically reset when the problem corrects itself, is repaired, or the circuit cools down to allow operation again.

One of the less known about fuses that can cause all this to go out is the fuseable link. It is in a black plastic box near the battery. It is an appx 60A thin metal strip fuse. Check the website link to the right for more info.

Also, I suggest check your Fuse Diagram in the BMW 525i Owners Manual here.

Power Sunroof
Emergency Closure Operation

The sunroof is equipped with an emergency closure feature should the sunroof motor fail or the vehicle has lost electrical power. To close the sunroof under these conditions:
  1. Remove the front headliner trim panel.
  2. Using the 6mm hex key that is included with the tool kit, insert the key into the hex socket and turn the socket to close the sunroof.

  1. Open the sunroof lid 2-4 inches (5-10cm).
  2. Unclip the roof liner frame and push back into the opening.
  3. Close the sunroof lid and loosen the screws on each end of the gates.
  4. Pull in the retainers, remove the center screws and lift off the lid.
  5. Remove the cover over the motor and gearbox. Close the sunroof lid, if not already closed.

  7. Push the cables back evenly on both sides. Remove the rail covers and pull the cables out of the guides.
  8. Place the cable in the center position of the gate and press off.
To install:
  1. Install the cables to the gate. The cable are marked with the proper side of installation. Do not lubricate fabric covered cables.
  2. Pull the cables through guides and align the cables. Insert a hex key through the gate and cable at the 0 position.
  3. Install the motor and gearbox. The motor and gearbox must be synchronized with the hole in the drivegear aligned between the centers of the 2 gears. Torque the bolts to 2.0 ft. lbs. (2.8 Nm).
  4. Install the sunroof lid. Use new screws and torque to 2.5 ft. lbs. (3.5 Nm).
  5. Adjust the sunroof lid. Pull the roof liner frame into position and clip into place.

E36 Models
  1. Close the sunroof fully. With a quick actuation of the sunroof opening button, open the sunroof so the back edge of the lid depresses 0.08-0.12 inches (2-3mm).
  2. Slowly push the roof liner panel back into the roof. Do not force or use a quick motion or damage could occur.
  3. Remove the mounting screws and pull the lid off at the rear side. Do not operate the sunroof with the panel removed.
To install:
  1. Install the lid and check that the hooks and levers align. Install the screws with threadlocker or use new micro-encapsulated screws. Torque to 2.5 ft. lbs. (3.5 Nm).
  2. Adjust the sunroof lid. Lower the rear of the lid by operating the motor. Pull the liner forward and clip into place.

Sunroof will not close. The sunroof is stuck in the forward open position. The battery died when the roof was left open and now I cannot close the sunroof. I can hear the relay click when I push the...

Can't say for sure about this particular model, but most vehicles with sunroofs have a manual crank for situations like this. Generally it is located forward of the sunroof on the roof of the interior of the car, sometimes under a panel or interior light. This at least will get the roof closed until the problem can be fixed. It may also allow the sun roof to realign itself and help the electric crank to start working again.

Sunroof

The new module must be calibrated to the car. This might have to be done at the dealer. You can try the following sequence...
with the roof open, push the sunroof switch back for 6 seconds, then forward for 6 seconds. shut the key off for 5 min lock the car(best if you use the remote) and unlock it and retry, if no success, try to push the sunroof switch back 3x quickly, take key out lock car, wait 5 min unlock car and retest (use remote if you have one)

2005 Chevy Equinox sunroof problems

Some customers may comment that the sunroof will no longer respond to the control switch while in a vented, partially opened, or fully opened position.
Cause A software issue with the sunroof control module may cause the sunroof control module to incorrectly indicate a "closed" position, which may result in no power to the sunroof motor.

My sunroof has opened and now it won't close. Any clues?

You will have to remove the sunroof motor, and the sunroof glass. Then you can move the guide tracks seperately until they are in the closed position. Then you can put the glass and motor back in, remove the power source (fuse or disconnect wire harness) to prevent any accidental opening until you can get it fixed. Chances are that a guide track or cable is broken, this can be a costly fix. Do not take it to the dealership, they will only want to install a whole sunroof unit. Take it to a local shop that installs aftermarket sunroofs
