What tires can fit a 1999 ford expedition xlt

Hi Lisa, I went to the site for Wheels Next and see why you are not sure. To answer your remaining questions I looked up your Expedition online. The site I use for reference is listed on the Web link of Wheels Next under tires. The DiscountTire site gives you stock wheel size (16x8) and if you go to a 17 inch stock, it is (17x8.5). Thinking only in terms of width you know either an 8 inch or 8 1/2 inch will clear the brake rotors and fenders, regardless if its a 16 or 17 rim. Because that is the Stock width of any size that fits an Expedition.



Tires, OMGd, there are so many. What I use is a Yokohama and Michelin L/T All Season on my 2 vehicles. When you go to your site, Highlite the individual selections after you chose SUV. Because the Expedition is an SUV. Then read about tread life, grip, road noise, etc. and pick what is important to you. Or use DiscountTire.com as reference.



Other things, the Wheel and Tire Combo bothers me. There is a phone number on the WheelsNext site. Are you going to have a choice of tire in the Combo? You need to have the Vin# for your Expedition before ordering. Ford made a change on wheel studs between 11/99 and 12/99. The older are 12mm, the newer are 14mm. Take off a lugnut and insert a 12mm socket over the stud to check the size. Newer Expeditions had 6 lugs, not 5.



Your choice of a 265-75-16 is a taller tire. I would ask if it is taller than the optional 265-70-17. You can look them up on the Discounttire site, but I did not find a similar tool at WheelsNext.
