I have a Chevy Uplander and inside the glove compartment is a panel that contains the "cabin filters" (2 of them). I'm not sure if all chevy's have these or not, but they are not listed in the owners manual. When we removed them, we couldn't believe all of the dirt, debris, hair etc. that we found. We were able to purchase new one's for $14.99 from Autozone, and now the air works just as good as when we purchased the van in 2005. you may want to check where your cabin filters are.

SOURCE: Heat wont blow through heater or defroster vents
The door in the heater box is most likely stuck. It is located under the dash on the passenger side

common problem, check under dash by the gas pedal if control arms are muving went selecting from ac to heat cuz this it is the control for the vents to go from ac to heat and to defrost.
SOURCE: Cold Air Not Blowing Through Vents
Your last guess is probably the right one. The deflectors/directors are vacuum controlled and you may have vacuum line either broken or disconnected; these aren't fun to find. I would start under the hood and make sure the vacuum reservoir is intact (have seen them cracked) and then start tracing hoses from there.
