Brake shift interlock switch

The battery is so dead that a jumper will not have the amps to start the car. The clicking sound is from the starter trying to turn. First I would go a head and replace the battery with one you no to be fully charged and try again.

How can I get key out which is stuck in ignition of 2008 cobalt. It also won't start

This can happen if the battery is low / dead. To solve, connect a set of jumper cables between the battery in the Cobalt and a running car's battery. Shut off the running car. In the Cobalt, make sure all accessories (lights, radio, fan, etc.) are off. Step on the brake, then move the gear shifter fully into the PARK position. Next, either attempt to start the engine, or turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition.

I hope this helps & good luck!

How can I bypass the starter in my car(manual trans) so it will start? I had the battery checked and it's fine.

  • If the engine cranks ("rrr-rrr-rrr") when you turn the key, then the problem isn't the starter or the battery.Plan to have at least one person sitting in the driver's seat and one or two persons pushing.Turn off all accessories (radio, wipers, lamps).Turn the key to the "on" position.Depress the clutch pedal with your foot.Put the transmission in first or second gear.Release the hand brake and the foot brake.Note that the people pushing need to get the car rolling as fast as they can. This works best down a hill or an incline.Release the clutch pedal while giving the engine a little gas with the gas pedal once the car is moving about as fast as you can run. The engine should start

The key will not turn in the ignition

Make sure the gear shift is in park. If it is, as you try to turn the key, move the steering wheel back and fourth, left to right to left, etc. If it still won't work, try pulling the key out a tiny bit. If that doesn't work try pushing the key in hard to make sure it's all the way in place.

2005 mdx makes noise on braking in front wheels-mechanic has said brakes are in good shape

Brakes can look good, and still make a noise,I would have the rotors resurfaced, and get new brake pads, and check the slides on the brake calipers,to make sure they are allowing the calipers to release.
