4 cylinder engine runs well, starts losing power, will not increase running power even if floored. engine does not stall but until engine is stopped and restarted will barely run. Catalytic converter checks out ok. Doesn't do it all the time but to often to be safe.
SOUND LIKE ENGINE GETTING TOO HOT.THAT WILL CAUSE LOST OF POWER.CHECK COOLING CLUTCH FAN IF IT HAS RESISTANCE WHEN ENGINE HOT FAN CLUTCH IS GOOD.IF FAN CLUTCH FREE WHEELS WITH NO RESISTANCE WHEN ENGINE HOT.FAN CLUTCH IS BAD.THAT WILL CAUSE ENGINE TO RUN HOT WHILE DRIVING.
Sounds like your timing belt is stretched or stretching when it's under stress. Check your timing and start thinking about needing to get that or the Timing belt adjuster changed. Also run a bottle of injector cleaner through your system.
