Are you having trouble with your battery going dead? Alternators can go bad at anytime depending on several things, but most cars today will run over 100,000 miles with out a problem. As long as your charging and your not hearing noises from the Alternator you are ok.
It is a little soon but not unheard of. If you start your vehicle and disconnect that battery does it DIE? If it does either the Alternator or the the voltage regulator is bad. If it doesn't then most likely it is just your battery, not common in one this new but surely possible.
Your alternator can go bad at any time its a mechanical part that wears down and depending on load placed on it environment ,maintenance of vehicle etc in 10 years parts fail

What ever you do do not disconnect the battery with the engine running. The battery is a load on the charging system and keeps system voltage in check. Disconnecting the battery when the charging system is operational can cause a voltage spike that can destroy modules and computers in your electrical system. Changing an alternator is not uncommon for some lower milage vehicles as more and more demand is being placed on them, the battery 5 years is about normal.
