When I start the vehicle, there are several beeps and then ''Perform Service'' is displayed for a few seconds on the screen (then goes off). The car didn't come with a manual so I'm not sure what type of service is needed. Can someone help and let me know?

This is a "reminder" chime to let you know to change the oil. It is set to chime after reset and 3000 miles. It is not connected to the condition of oil, just a timer. When it goes off again just hit the reset button. Probably need to change your oil and then hit the reset button.

I replaced my 2004 grand Prix ignition switch with a USED 2005 will I still be able to to just program the key and I will be fine

Programming Theft Deterrent System Components
Important: When replacing a body control module (BCM) with an GM Service Parts Operation (SPO) Replacement Part, set up the replacement BCM prior to the 10-minute relearn procedure or the 30-minute relearn procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
Important:
• When replacing a BCM with an GM SPO Replacement Part, the module will learn the keys immediately. The existing powertrain control module (PCM) must learn the new fuel continue password when you replace the BCM.
• When replacing a PCM with a GM SPO Replacement Part, the new PCM will learn the incoming fuel enable password immediately after programming and upon receipt of a password message. A PCM which had been installed in another vehicle would have learned the fuel enable password of the other vehicle's BCM. Perform either the 10-minute relearn procedure or the 30-minute relearn procedure to learn the fuel enable password of the current vehicle's BCM.
• When performing either relearn procedure, all previously learned keys will be erased from the BCM memory.
• Additional keys may be learned. Refer to Adding Keys .
Tools Required
• Scan tool
• Techline Terminal with current Service Programing System (SPS) software
10-Minute Relearn Procedure
Use this procedure after replacing the following components:
• The passkey III (PK3) keys
• The BCM
• The PCM, see Important above
Important: If replacing a BCM with a GM SPO Replacement Part, perform the procedure to setup a new BCM prior to the 10-minute relearn procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Insure that all power consuming devices are turned OFF on the vehicle.
With a scan tool, select Request Info. under Service Programming System and follow the scan tool on-screen instructions.
Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle and connect the scan tool to a Techline Terminal with the current Service Programming System (SPS) software.
On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions.
Disconnect the scan tool from the Techline Terminal and re-connect the scan tool to the vehicle.
With a master passkey III key, turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
With a scan tool, select Program ECU under Service Programming System.
At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10-minute relearn procedure.
Observe the scan tool, after approximately 10 minutes the scan tool will display "Programming Successful, Turn OFF Ignition". The vehicle is now ready to relearn the key information and/or the passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to ON.
Turn OFF the ignition and wait 5 seconds.
With a master Passkey III key, start the vehicle. The BCM has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.
Important: Perform this step ONLY on vehicles with EXPORT configured BCM's.
Turn OFF the ignition and wait 15 seconds minimum.
Important: Perform this step ONLY on vehicles with EXPORT configured BCM's.
With a second master passkey III key, start the vehicle. The BCM has now learned the second master Passkey III key transponder information
With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.
30-Minute Relearn Procedure
Use this procedure after replacing the following components:
• The passkey III (PK3) keys
• The BCM
• The PCM, see important above
Important: This procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with option code (Z49).
If replacing a BCM with an GM SPO Replacement Part, perform the procedure to setup a new BCM prior to the 30-minute relearn procedure.
With a master passkey III key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Observe the STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THEFT message on the drivers information center (DIC), after approximately 10 minutes the STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THEFT message on the DIC will turn off.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.
Important: The vehicle learns the key transponder information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
With a master passkey III key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.

Why is there a beeping noise every 5 minutes or so while driving-

AS LONG AS YOUR CAR IS RUNNING FINE & HAS BEEN SERVICED RECENTLY YOU CAN ALTER THIS MESSAGE ON SCREEN TO STOP THE BEEPING, THE EASIEST WAY IS TO DISCONNECT BOTH THE + & - BATTERY LEADS & CONNECT THEM TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 30 MINS, THIS WILL RESET THE JEEP'S MEMORY, CONNECT BACK THE LEADS & THEN WHEN YOU GET IN & START YOUR CAR THE DISPLAY BY THE GEARSHIFT WILL BE FLASHING - SET THE CLOCK BY KEEPING YOUR FINGER ON THE SET BUTTON FOR S FEW SECONDS UNTIL THE IST DIGIT BEGINS TO FLASH, THEN PRESS THE SET BUTTON UNTIL YOU REACH THE DESIRED HOUR, THEN PRESS THE SELECT BUTTON BELOW & THIS WILL MOVE YOU ON TO THE MINUTES, CONTINUE WITH THE ABOVE OPERATION UNTIL THE TIME & DATE HAVE BEEN SET, YOUR "SERVICE" SHOULD NOW BE RESET TO EITHER 7500 MILES OR 12500 MILES, I SERVICE MY 96 GRAND CHEROKEE MYSELF SO THIS IS MY "CHEAT" FOR THE SYSTEM & IT IS GUARANTEED TO WORK. BEST OF LUCK.

On my 2000 jeep grand cherokee information center is displaying perform service i would like to know what i have to do to fix it

The perform service message tells you when you need to change oil. To reset it turn the key on and press the step button until miles to service is displayed (it should say 0 underneath). Then press and hold the reset button until it changes from 0 to 3,000 miles. Then start the vehicle. The message should no longer be displayed.

Perform service jeep grand cherokee 2005 this message is appearing in the message center

Actually the newer cherokees are a little more complicated, it's not a reminder for an oil change. It is for an emssions service that should be performed according to the dealer. Here is the rest procedure

Turn ignition to on position, but do not start.
Depress brake pedal fully twice.
depress excellerator very slowly twice
Turn ignition off & that will reset the perform service indicator.
I am mechanic & we are getting frustrated because the dealers do not want to release this info to anyone, they want your money! Can you believe if you did not get them to perform the service they charge you a 1 hour shop rate??

EVIC - PERFORM SERVICE MESSAGE

To reset the perform service message , is as follows , turn ignition switch to the ON position , depress and release MENU push button until SERVICE INTV . = is displayed , press and release STEP button to step through available options. the last selected distance option displayed becomes the service interval at which the PERFORM SERVICE message will be displayed . if a new distance interval is selected , RESET SERVICE DISTANCE ? with a yes or no option. when yes is selected the accumulated distance since the last previous PERFORM SERVICE message will be set to zero because the service interval has been changed . when NO is selected , the distance until the next PERFORM SERVICE message is reduced by the accumulated distance since the last previous message . EVIC exits programming mode and returns to its normal operation mode when the C/T button is depressed or when the end of the programmable feature menu list is reached , whichever comes first .

Thanks for asking .
