I have Honda Civic LX 2001. Current mileage is 152,000. I know the gas tabk capacity is 13.2 US gallons. Until now whenever I filled the gas (after low fuel indicator was on), the gas pump would auto-stop after filling about 11-12 gallons. During last three times, when I filled gas, it crossed 14 gallons and I had to manuaaly stop the pump. I did not notice any spillage. Any thoughts regarding the problem?
There is about a gallon additional capacity in the filter, hoses, filler tube, etc.
But I have never seen anyone let it get low enough intentionally to ever notice. Don't wait for the light to come on. That is not very accurate, and you could easily find yourself stranded out of gas.
The sender unit in the tank ,i think it has petrol in the float so its not reading correct.with the filler neck and associated pipes then it no doubt holds nearer 15 gals or about 80 litres .I couldnt afford to buy this much petrol in one go as its just over 1 euro 20cents a litre here so that would cost me 90+ euros or if the exchange rate is right this morning thats a dollar a litre
