With you hood open and you are standing in front of the car sparkplug wires need to be removed,i suggest you remove them one at a time, under each wire the sparkplug is threaded into the cylinder head, using a 5/8 sparkplug socket remove the sparkplug and replace it with new properly gapped sparkplug.Note:if you remove all sparkplug wires at once the factory wires are generally numbered 1 2 3 4 the sparkplug closesed to the passenger fender is #1 and the one clossesed to the driver's fender is #4.Standing in front of vehicle the PCV Valve is located between #3 and #4 on the backside(intake side) of the engine fitted down into a rubber hose

I bought a used 1995 for escort. it has a miss an is getting worse. i changed the spark plugs. i took the spark plug wires off one at a time. 3 of them made the miss worse and 1 did nothing. it's

Not without more testing.
It could be a fuel problem or something mechanical like a valve.
You would do a compression test next to verify all 4 cylinders have normal compression.
If they do, and that 4th plug wire was providing spark to the plug, I would expect you to find something going on with the injector.

How do i change spark plugs on a ford escort sport

start from the left hand side of the engine as you are facing it, take one out at a time this way you will not mix up the HT leads ok.
Take the lead off number one plug and unscrew the old plug anticlockwise with a socket that fits the sparkplug, once you have done that put the new one in and tighten up clockwise and put the lead back on and push down so you hear a click but do not tighten up to tight or you weill damage the treads on the plug. Just enough so you feel the pressure on the racket. then do the same with all of them.

I hope this help's?
