I just bought a 2001 Saturn S series, auto 4-dr sedan and a little while after I got it the orange service engine soon light came on. What could cause this light to come on? The car's engine has been replaced shortly before I got it. Any help would be appreciated.
Many things can cause the service light to come on, check the gas cap make sure it seals, otherwise get it scanned,.
Service light is NOT a check engine light it is a required maintenance light that needs to be reset after maintenance

Thanks starrface. I tried the gas cap, was not that, light still on. Now the change oil light is on, could that be causing the service engine light to come on?
In the car manual, it says that it concerns emissions problems, time for regular routine servicing of car, etc. I will have my mechanic scan the car and see if it has a problem code. Thanks for your help.
My engine service light just came on too. I've got an SUV, and I am completely reliant on it to get my three kids to all of their various activities and school. It's actually the only vehicle my husband and I have, so we can't have anything bad happen to it.
