Check with the auto parts store to see what the fuel sensor looks like, It should be accessible and I have seen those go on the smaller chevys like aveo.
Look up on internet replacing gas recirculation sensor on google
For the first part next time it is doing it try messing with the hazard button on the dash, the noise will stop or go away for a while if that's your problem.
As for the bell it would be something differant than the hazard switch. Is any of the Idiot lights coming on when it does it?
call or go to your local chevy dealer and get along side a mechanic .they know the common probs and recalls on late models.malibu and impala have alot of factory recalls on them.go on line and
search engine malibu recalls (your year)and about 500 results will pertain to your car,not year necessarily, but same car.pay attn to model year changes.i.e. like 2001-2006. same body. Gino R

I had this problem (wipers only work on high) with my 2002 Chevy Malibu and had to replace the 6 amp diode (22059733) on the wiper control board. It is connected to the back of the wiper motor and is held on by 3 torx screws. Radio Shack has them for $2.75 6A, 50V Rectifier Diodes (4-Pack) Model:276-1661
