Poss ECU fault ,common on these, but you need to change both coil packs at same time, programing is easy , fit ecu + coil packs run till rad fan cuts in+out 3 times then hold at 3000 rpm for 30 secs.

I have a 1996 Volvo 960 it runs rough sometimes at idle and under load what could cause this?

Could be your cat converter is breaking apart.could be your air flow sensor is dirty. Could even be a dirty fuel filter, plugs or your coil going bad.

My 95 Saturn SL2 1.9 will idle very lough when in drive or reverse. Runs fine at about 65mph but still has a little skip here and there. When the Air Conditioning is turned on the car will stall....

TYry doing a static power brake test on the vehicle, with the car in gear, wheels are chocked up so not to allow vehicle to move forward, stand firm on the brake pedal and slowly add gas to the engine, does it dance around and miss fire?
If so you may have a bad coil/plugs/wires under load they may be breaking down they should have been replaced by at least 65,000 miles if not do a featured maintenance on the engine and replace them.

1994 Toyota pickup 22re 4cyl has intermitent low, rough idle. Sometimes idles normally. I have also noticed that when AC is on and compressor is engaged the engine idle is normal but when the compressor...

You might have a bad coil. Under a load the coil might preform well, but under no load, its weak causing a misfire...thus giving you a rough idle. I have had this problem on a few vehicle. Check plugs, wires, and distributor. Mike.

5.3 L Missing and Rough Idle Intermittently

i have a 2001 chevy z-71 5.3L. I keep getting a random/multiple misfire code for cylinder 1 . I have replaced plugs, wires, coil pack(only on #1 cylinder)., and fuel pump. I still keep getting the cylinder 1 misfire code. I put truck on a scanner and watched the cylinders. # 1 misfires at idle but quickly stops misfiring at around 1000 rpms. you can here the engine miss at idle but truck runs great on road . anyone else ever had this problem?

2001 v6 escape rough idle when cold

To update my earlier repair on the 2001 6 cyl Escape: When cold, and when the ignition was turned over but no accelerator pressure given, the rough idle finally returned the P0303 code again when the check engine light came on indicating that it wasn't caused by the plugs or the coil. FYI, I had replaced the intake manifold gaskets during the original repair and just prior to that I had replaced the fuel filter which was very dirty (I cut it open to see).

The repair manual referred to fuel injectors as a possible problem. I have run three tanks of fuel using different injector cleaning products and am very pleased with the results. Cold starts are much smoother and I am unable to coax out the P0303 code or any other code.

My opinion, change the fuel filter, use a fuel injector cleaner for a couple of tanks, change the plugs if the problem still exists. The coils were not the problem on my vehicle.
