I can drive for a few days and then it won't start. There is never any pattern to why it won't start. I have had the battery checked and the alternator checked and they are fine.

SOURCE: 93 won t start, clicking when i try to start... it

I would change all three. alittle expensive, but on this old of a vehicle I would not waste time and trouble. if this doesnt work then maybe some ignition problems. But i would guess that battery, starter, alternator, should do the trick

SOURCE: 97' nissan pick-up started dying while driving air

This is just a suggestion that may fit the symptoms. It sounds like you are not getting fuel at times which could mean that your fuel pump is supplying fuel, but your in line fuel filter is getting clogged and not letting fuel pass to the injectors. The fuel that has mandated alcohol in it is highly hydroscopic and picks up a lot of water that ends up in your tank and mixes with the rust that it causes on the steel tank. That gunk is sucked up by the pump and under pressure blocks your fuel filter after a while, and is so impacted that it cuts off the fuel flow stalling the engine. If you let it sit for a while, then the impacted debris settles down in the bottom half of the filter allowing the fuel to flow, but under pressure it builds up at the exit port again. It could be as simple as changing the fuel filter.

Why the engine starts, runs about 5 second, dies and then won't start, if you wait 10 minutes it starts and runs fine, this happens once every few weeks/months or twice in one day, no set pattern. hav

I saw what you replaced, didn't see any testing? What testing have you done? Make sure battery has a full charge?
When the problem is ongoing, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes?
If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems.

Wont start

I had a similar problem a few months ago. Ready to get major engine work done, got fire, timing was right, getting gas.....
An experienced mechanic asked where the car had been parked and how long. I had parked it in grass, over a wet spot. The battery was dead too. He told me to park it over a warm spot for a few days and try a new battery. Did that, with the hood open, replaced the battery, and it fired right up. Something about being too damp and/or the voltage in the battery was too weak.. All I know is it worked, and I drive it every day and don't park in wet grassy spots.

When my car sits for a few days without driving the car will not start, is there like a kill switch or something that causes this?

No kill switch

The Fuel Inertia Switch --- is only on Ford Products
& will not be a problem unless you were in a very heavy hit
Then your car would most likely be totaled

I would think your battery is no good, IF, it is from the factory
& never replaced
Have you not tested it, on the days it won't start?

What does it take to get it started?

Have you checked fuel pressure or had
someone under car listening for the fuel pump ?

Had battery replaced yesterday, didn't realise computer neededed to be restarted. car started OK but today I have to keep the revs up or it stalls. After i reinstalled the battery I pressed the mode button...

hi.

lots of engine management systems are "semi-intelligent" they learn your driving patterns and adjust engine settings to perform best for your driving style.

when they are reset or disconnected they go back to default settings, and until they pick up your driving patterns again, the car can run a little rougher than usual until the system readjusts.
this can take a few days, or 50-100 miles.

just double check to make sure you have not disturbed any pipes or wires under the bonnet and the car should settle down as you drive it.
if the security code was entered incorrectly, the car would probably be immobilised. the fact that it runs suggest that the code has been accepted.

if you are not sure, you could always try disconnecting the battery again and re-entering the security codes.

please feel free to post again if the problem persists

After replacing battery OBD shows computer not

It usually take a few days and a few dozen miles for all the rediness monitors to reset. The car must go through different types of drive patterns during this time, including stop and go traffic, steady highway driving, a few quick accelerations, and quick stops.
