Remove lower dash panel, under steering wheel, there will be a bracket that holds steering wheel, remove both 15mm nut's that point up, not the 13mm bolt's the screw into the colum , steering wheel will come down enough where you will see the ignition switch on the top side of the colum, the switch will be screw to the colum with the head light dimer switch.

It is mounted on the tube of the steering column near the bottom on top of tube, it is driven by a rod from the ignition lock cylinder.

use a test light the wire from the battery should be hot all the time the wire that goes to the solenoid should be hot when the key is turned over to start and the wire going to the coil should be hot when the key is in run.

Replace Ignition Switch Support 89 chevy

I am unaware of what you are refering to with "ignition switch support".
The ignition switch is attached to the steering column near the bottom (close to the firewall). Its held on by two screws (the dimmer switch is also attached to a screw and the ignition switch). The bracket on the ignition switch is part of the switch.

1989 Suburban runs but sometimes will not turn over until it sits

You may have a bad connection going to ignition switch or too the fuse relay box in engine compartment, check the power cable going to reay box in engine compartment.also you may have a bad ignition switch, not the cylinder lock but the eletrical switch itself.

Wiring problem from the fuel pump relay on the firewall of my 1989 3/4 ton 4x4 gmc pickup - to the ignition switch - could it be an open circuit or the ignition switch itself?

The ignition switch could be the culprit. It's located on the lower half of the column, on top of it. Remove the plug, the two screws that hold it on, and lift it off the actuator rod that runs up to the key cylinder. It's about $30.00 new and takes about 10 minutes.

Or you could bypass the problem.

No power to wiper motor, 1990 chevy s-10 blazer. No power to fuse block (just the wiper fuse)

It would have to be in the ignition switch, this ,when turned on,sends power to the fuse.

Just take every cord connected to the positive side of the battery off for 10 seconds to allow the alarm to reset, then flip the little switch under the dash so the alarm won't activate again.
