What is the problem we're having with your ignition. Could you be a little bit more clearer thank you.

My ignition is very hot when I shut my car off. It is making my key extremely hot also. Would this have caused any damage to my key thus resulting in it snapping in half?

I can think of two possible problems you might be having. One if you said you actually broke the key, if the key is really broken it might have an anti theft device and it such as a resistor or possibly a chip and if the key is damaged this could cause more resistance causing the key heat up. And if the ignition switches is located close to the keys cylinder you might have bad contacts at the switch or bad connection where the harness connects to the switch heating up this whole area and the key. Good luck.

Hi. we locked key in trunk..doors open and havevalet park key can i jump trunk latch from relay/fuse box to pop trunk lid need color code wire to apply power to..2000 XJ8L vanden plas tks

If you examine the panel where the number plate light is mounted there should be a hidden key hole slot. It will be probably have seized up as it isn't normally used regularly. You might have to spray it a few times with a light releasing oil to free it up and gradually work it loose with the spare key. Don't rush this as you could snap the key or damage the lock barrel. This should give you access to the trunk without having to 'hot-wire' any of the electrics. The fault in the wiring is probably where the wires join the trunk lid from the body of the car so "Hot-wiring" probably wouldn't work.

Key will not turn to start car.

HI, the ignition switch mechanism is faulty at this point. this will cause the switch mech to become jammed at times. this will also cause you to snap your master key as well. the best action will be to replace the ignition switch mechanism. The lock latch is malfunctioning.(not able to disengage properly)
