It prob has an Allison I have the same truck. If the tranny has an external spin on filter then it is an allison

If your truck is a diesel the tranny is an Allison from what I was told by a Chevy parts guy. My 01 2500Hd has the 5 speed auto and he says it is an Allison, just not the one with the extra gears and buttons on the dash. He also told me they were bullet proof as my truck was on the lift getting the tranny looked at. Bad Torq Conv and flex plate blew out the tranny pump for a $3300 repair bill.
