Not likely as a result of sitting too long, but there is a possibility that your radio went into theft mode when you cleaned the battery if you disconnected either of the terminals. If you typed it in correctly, the card might be from a previous radio (if you're not the original owner) or if it is the original radio, a mechanic may have swapped the card with another car by mistake.
