Hi,
Pull the coil wire from the top of the distributor cap (leave a gap)and position yourself where you can turn the engine over and see if it's sparking. If not, replace the coil.
Hope this helps... Good luck!

Im not sure what engine you have or what ignition system is in it but the coil has power and the other wire is ground, the dist is what produces the ground as it spins in order to make the coil spark, the dist grounds and releases ground very fast. if your dist has a control module on it or on the fender well then the module should have power to it. if your problem is a no spark one then have the control module tested and also make sure the cam is spining and the timing belt didnt pop if this is a 4cylinder, no matter what motor have the module tested and try another coil if module tests good.

1988 c4 Corvette no spark replaced icm distributor cap & roter i have 12v goining into the coil & the new coil test good new livewire plug wires still no spark ? any help would be appreciated thank's

Hello. It seems your Camaro has either a 'loose' timing chain and /or a faulty ignition module. I recommend having the ignition module tested first before moving to more complex process of elimination. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

I have a 1965 elcamino, not getting spark at plugs swapped plugs wires coil, distributor, won't start! Ideas?

Check power and ground at the coil. If there isn't any power there you will need to trace them both back to find the problem. If you have power at the coil, does the coil provide power to the distributor? If yes the either cap, points or distributor is bad. Check gap on points. Make sure point contacts are clean. Does the internals of the distributor turn when engine is turned over? All this has to work correctly for you to get spark.

Toyota sprinter 1993 Was running but now has come up with these faults, any idea how to get it goin? It only has to last a day as it's going into a demo derby

Hi Anthony, But some people are cruel! Demo Derby! Seriously the problem would seem to be with the camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Problem is I believe that your vehicle used a distributor, which is not really a problem, as you look into the distributor instead. The fault codes could relate to the igniter or the pick up coil which controls the spark or injection timing. Regards John Ps I won't tell your car your sending it to its death.....

My 92 4runner is goin great then after a while it wont start it winds over fires for a sec then dies an when u do get it goin missis for a bit then pick it revs back up any ideas

Toyotas are notorious for the ignitors going bad. It is inside the distributor and is serviced only by replacing the entire distributor.

Engine has sspark and getting fuel but wont start

If you have a 4.3 youll need 54psi-60psi the common vehicle failure is the coil if the spark is goin there youll have to determine how good is the spark a weak coil can give it a hard time to start, Open the distributor cap remove the rotor is it rusted. there is a reluctor there they tend to move out of postion and fire the plus at the wrong time. put it all together.loosen the distributor now have someone crank the car as you turn the distributor does it want to catch if yes replace the whole distributor you may not be able to by just a reluctor any more. plus it cheaper this way and faster

I hav a 94 chevy k1500 but it wont stay running. One morning i started it up, got it warm then while i was goin down the road it acted like it was running out of gas, would die then start back up then just...

Turn on the key and listen by the fuel tank for the fuel pump to hum. A common problem is low fuel pressure. It will build pressure when the key is turned, use that fuel, and then the pressure drops. Kind of like when you're using a squirt gun that's getting empty.

No spark goin to plugs

1. Check the ignition coil. It must produce a good
spark at the distributor contact.
2. Check the distributor cap, and the rotor for carbon
deposits. This must be cleaned.
3. Check the spark plug cables for cracks, it may
need replacement.
4. Check the spark plugs. It must produce a bluish
spark. Otherwise, this must be replaced.
