2000 ford exploorer v-8 awd eddie bauer edition new wheels and tires new ball joints new tierods new shocks 3 front front end alignments started having a vibration in the front end at about 70+ mph had the tires balanced didnt change changed tires destination le 255 70 16 didnt change bought new wheels 18 inch 255 55 18 goodyear eagle sl2 tires still had same vibrationj changed u-joints front and rear shafts had the driveshafts checked and rebalanced still same vibration !!! ok im lost now any ideas my only thought left is to replace the half shafts had vehicle on lift running could see no vibration engine has good compression all cyl. new coil packs new taylor wires new iridium plugs engine has no vibration that can be found vibration feels like its in the front end you feel it in the steering wheel and your seat

Loose tie rod or other suspension component. When my inner tie rod was loose the car would shake like crazy

Faulty power steering rack and pinion or low on power steering fluid causing the whining noise.Tire wear on the outside is usally worn out tie rod ends or front end. out of alinement.As for the ABS and trac light you will need to have the computer scaned.Could be faulty wheel speed sensor.

I would remove all the tires & clean out the treads of any stones

Then I would take them to a tire store & stand inside next to the
balancer & see if the wheels & tires run true & rebalance

Next the bottom ball joints fail on that vehicle
A relative has a 2005 & just got Moog Joints on line, last
night,& has them to do

The struts/shocks I would leave for now.
Could they fail,anything is possible

Next wheel bearing hub assy will fail,hopefully
not already at 86,000

You first do the tire work & move them around until
you get that situation as good as you can

Then check the lower ball joints,from there the wheel hubs
& I am a bit exteme,but i would pull both drive shafts,check
joints & have them balanced before next winter. Only me ,
no one else would do that

Your biggest issue is the two piece spark plugs that need to
come out & any number will break off & stay in the heads

Your going to get Champion 7989 one piece plugs ,as no one
else makes a plug for a 3 valve engine 5.4

Your also going to order over the internet a Lisle 65600 broken
spark plug removing tool before you start

I had a chev truck do that once . It was the tires were out of balance. A friend of mine had to put stablizer shock on the steering tie rod to stop his. It looks like a long shock that mounts to the frame and the tie rod shaft. Good Luck

Alignment, wheel ben / out of balance, or worn suspension such as shocks/struts, ball joints, tie-rod ends. I'd take it to the tire shop for alignment, balancing and rotation ... they will let you know if there are issues with worn suspension when they try to align it.

Look at your tires for uneven wear. Check front wheel balance and ball joints. You may be able to get a free front end inspection at some alignment shops.

outer tie rod ends seems to be the only thing not on your list. or could be misaligned

Alignment has alot to do with the tires not shimmying.. Like zero toe setting. Loose componants like tie rod ends and the idler ar worn. You can ck for excess front end play by holding the front and back of the wheel and pushing and pulling on it, like rocking it. OR have someone rock the steering while you watch where the play is from underneath. By rocking I mean turn the steering wheel back and forth. Look at all th joints and pivot points for excess play, which is, movement not immediate to the rest of the steering system. Tire balance is very important. Wheel hop is a sign of a bad tire and it overtaxes the shock absorber. Shocks don't cause shimmy because they are a vertical movement controlA shimmy is lateral or side to side.Wheel balance weights must be spit. If a 2 oz. weight is needed to balance the tire, Oe once should be on the inside of the wheel and one ounce on the outside directly across from each outher.. Loose wheel brgs will cause shimmy, but they would not last long. Caster setting on the wheel alignment will also cause shimmy. Like on a shopping car. too much caster causes the wheel to start fluttering and is very hard on other componants. This may be why you have worn tie rod ends and a bad pitman arm. Worn control arm bushings and ball joints directly affect titre wear and can only be feltwhen the front end hits a dip and detected by side wear on the tire edges. Summary: replace the tie rod end and have the car aligned. Good Luck, -Ned_ sorry about the book

Yep....agreed. Ball joints are bad....if you had done maintenance on the front end steering or suspension system, you need a front end alignment. But, you definitely have issues with the suspension system.

Tierod, ball joints, struts....could be a lot of things.

Let us know what has been done to the front end.
