What Door Harness(s) did you replace? Why? List each function in Left Front Door that is not working. It is possible you damaged Left Front Door Harness. Are the other doors working fine? Disconnecting the Vehicle Battery is not necessary though it is safety step.
As long as you have a key, original or copy, when you hook up the battery use the key in the door and turn it to the unlock position, that should de-activate the alarm. either front door should work.
ok so the same thing just happened with my jetta. So heres what worked for me: take off the door panel (drivers side) and you should see some melted or bunched wires together. just snip them and leave them be. It was either the wires or the sensor that messed everything up. This should work.
Go to your local junk or scrapyard and pull them yourself. The dealer charges an average of 90-100 dollars an hour. So a lot of the money they quoted you for was probably for labor
i have the same problem with the key, my buddy got a new key made up and it works fine now, turns out the key wears down over time and cant catch the mechanisms in the locks
Put your key in the drivers door key hole and turn it! Worked for me! I had a service department recommend this to me. I had never turned mine in the first place but it worked so I'm happy!
