Your torque converter maybe to blame here. a simple fluid pressure test will tell you that. if the pressure is good, your valve bod might be due for a change.

When my engine iscold it takes forever for the converter to finally lok up

TCC locks at high speeds. where is yours failing, how fast.?

so at what speed, do you expect TCC lockup.?
unless you have tranny slip.. a whole other problem in any gear.

this old tranny has, pure mechanical ops. no TCM here.
most old tranny have the foolwing inputs.
1: driver right foot called the TV cable or detent or passing gear cable.
it can stick and cause late shifting
2: Tail shaft speed, this is the tail speed governor that shifts by speed.
3: the load vacuum modulator that shifts by engine load (vacuum)
4:gear lever positions PRNDL.

the 5th input is the TCC relay that the ECU controls
the ECU activates it under inputs of RPM and MPH (VSS1)
so if the relay closes at the right speed, then the ECU and relay
are working, if the TCC lock up is delayed, then the TCC internal
solenoid is bad, leaks or the acutal lockup is bad or pump pressure
is too low, or any leaks from the solenoid to the locker slave.

I have a 2000 Gmc yukon thats wont shift to 2nd gear and the Rpm goes up high and only goes 25 to 30 mph check engine light on I dont know whats going on wih it if someone know what wrong please i would...

means that you have a transmissions code set. Have code retrieve. the pcm is in fault mode and no second gear or tcc apply or else.If code set the check engine light on is repair then the second gear be on again.

Transmission not shifting into 4th gear

Dirty Shift Solenoids

Have to Google your trans unit or model
& see what the inside looks like, as far as
shift control items go

It may not be going into converter lock-up
either, that is some high rpm that will overheat it
also & ruin it for good

Transmission shifting to soon 1998 olds intrigue

Sounds like you have a shift control problem, either in the transmission or the ECM controlling it. Check for trouble codes (DTCs) with a good code reader.

I have a 99 olds intrigue 3.8l Autozone computer states poor electrical connection or short circuit, or failed vehicle spped sensor or drive gear mechanical fault. speedometer works sometimes and drives great next time it raises rpm and speedometer does not work. Where is the speed sensor or where is the elctrical circuit I can check to see if connections are good.

Stick shift # Automatic RPM

That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.

The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.

In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.
