Some of these vehicles have a lever on the back where the bulb is that adjusts the shroud in front of the bulb ,but as so many cars get permantly shipped abroad that they dont do it now so you have to buy dealer only headlights

Changing the lighst on the front of our mondeo to drive in france

The head lights need to be adjusted for driving on the RHS of the road in France. There is no switch to automatically reaim the headlights. You need to take your vehicle to an auto electrican to get the lights adjusted and on your return you need to get them adjusted again for driving on LHS of the road.

Adjusting the headlights on a Mercerdes Benz ML280 (08)

in theory, the headlights are adjusted forward, and centered . so no matter where you drive the illumination should be the same. but there are adjustment screws on all vehicles. so i would say yes, if needed. the lights can be adjusted opposite with the turn of a screw

How do i ajust ford transit headlights 2001 2001 Y transit swb 100TD. i have clear leanses on my headlights and i am driving in france can i ajust the bulb so i dont blind on coming traffic. As the lenses...

There is a conflict with your vehicle and the listing you made for the type of vehicle. But several things to point out. First, if you drive on the opposite side of the road in France versus the United States, the headlight aim would be reversed.

The aim of the headlights can be different in the United States depending on State rules. In general, the curbside light is adjusted higher and the light on the oncoming traffic side is lower. The traffic side is adjusted more towards the center of the vehicle and the curbside is slightly over the curb. You do not want a dark area in the middle of your travel direction.

The vehicle is between 25 and 30 feet from a flat surface The light is adjusted a certain height from the ground. These specs vary and the height of your lights can come into play. Cover the opposite headlight to isolate the beam from the one you are adjusting. A simple towel can cover a lens.

There may be specs in France to cover this.

Can i adjust the headlights on a Merc. B Class myself for driving in europe?

on each headlamp assembly, there will be either one or two plastic nuts that you can turn.

If you only have one nut on each, that will adjust the vertical aim of the headlights.

If you have two nuts on each, one will adjust the vertical and the other will adjust the horizontal.

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

Also, when you said for driving in Europe, is this a European car or are you importing this car? If you are importing, you will have to change your headlight assembly to conform with ECE specs and not DOT (North American) specs

UK Headlights to French Headlights

The headlamps themselves will look identical. If you were to look at the beam pattern of the light, then it would be different. Your original headlights were designed to throw excess light to the passenger side of the road (I.E. away from oncoming cars). Now that driving directions are opposite in France, your old headlights would be throwing the excess light into the oncoming cars, blinding them). The new lights are designed to throw the light away from those oncoming cars.

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.
