Codes 171 174 2002 gmc sierra 5.3

Codes 171 and 174 showing lean in both banks. Changed plugs and wires, truck started running good. Codes came back a couple of hours later. Truck still runs fine. Possibly Injectors?

If both 171 and 174 come up (both banks lean) suspect Mass Airflow Sensor or fuel pressure issue.....according to autozone's troubleshooting guides

Try some injector cleaner in order to see if the lean condition improves. Lean conditions can sometimes be caused by o2 sensors or other sensors that are not within specifications.

Replaced 02 sensor with code 131 and 171 now getting p0053

Code 53 is for a problem with the heater in the O2 sensor for bank one sensor one. It could be something in the wiring or you could have a defective sensor.

I have a 2003 GMC Denali with Codes P171 & P174 lean on both banks. What is the problem? Fuel pump?

More likely it's the intake manifold gasket leaking. They can become flat and **** air in passed the gasket, causing a lean condiiton.

Nic, If the carburetor was dumping gas, remove the engine oil dip stick and see if it smells like gasoline. If it does you will need to change the oil.
