I can't remove the head rests off the front seats on my 2006 Tribute. It seems the assembly may have been installed backwards where the headrest can be pushed up all the way without engaging the lock button, yet the button must be pressed to lower the headrest. It is the opposite of the rear head rests.

SOURCE: Can't remove headrest

I'm not positive about that model, but some of them had a button that you pushed built right into the seat, right beside where the shaft for your headrest goes in. Just push beside the shaft on either side of the post with your thumb.

You can pry them back and they should tilt. Otherwise pull up real hard and they will come out.

SOURCE: 2002 Mazda Tribute rear liftgate lock replacement

I'm not sure where' the screws are but basically You need to remove the panel on the rear door, then once the panel (interior trim) has been removed you should see a lock mechanism which will be screwed/bolted in place. Easier and cheaper then buying a brand new lock mechanism (unless you want to buy brand new) is going to a wreckers and finding your car model and get it that way (yes it's used but it'll probably save you tons of money vs the dealership) Best Regards.

SOURCE: headrest inserted backwards and now unable to

On my 2003 Jeep, there is a button on one of the two round plastic bases in the top of the seat. The button is actually molded the shape of the base. Depress it while pulling the headrest upwards.

How do I adjust the front headrest on my 2009 Lincoln MKS so that they do not tilt so far forward?

I turned my headrests backward. Worked great. In fact, I wonder if the engineers designed them that way but the production guys build them backward???
1) Tilt the seat way back to allow room to remove headrests, 2) Press and hold both headrest release tabs at the same time and have someone else pull out the headrest completely, 3) turn the headrests backward and insert into the two headrest guide slots (headrests fit the same either way). 4) No more pain in the neck !!!
Caution: I do not know what this does for whiplash injury protection but it seems OK for my own comfort with the solution. And it beats the pain in the neck caused by the bass-akwards design.

I need to remove my headrest to change my seatbelt guide ; i can t get headrest to come off. Thank you

Pull the seat fabric down in front to expose the plastic piece that the headrest bar inserts through. You will see a small wire clip inserted through plastic. Remove it by prying with small flat head screwdriver. Repeat on other side. Headrest will then slide out.

How do you remove the front headrest from a 92 honda civic LX? I want to put seat covers on but the headrests are mounted on a single post and don't seem to be able to be removed. I tried to pry apart at...

I have a 92 Accord, which has 2 'posts'. To remove it, you must pull the head rest up as high as it will go, then there is a slide built into the plastic piece (round) the post goes through on the top of the seat. Push it in towards the post, while pulling up on the head rest, it should come out. Let me know if this works.

click this link directly its the manual of your vehicle.everything is mentioned.
It's pretty easy. Raise the headrest all the way up. Look at the plastic pieces on the seat where the headrest supports go into the seat. One of them will have a small hole. Get a paperclip and push it into the hole while pulling up on the headrest and it will come out.

How do you remove the headrest on a 1996 ford crown victoria?

Head Restraints Each front seat is equipped with dual-post design front seat back head restraint (611A08). The front seat back head restraint is installed as follows:
  • It travels on dual posts which have notches to engage a spring-loaded catch in the guide.
  • The front seat back spring assembly retains the front seat head rest guide rod sleeve (610A16).
  • The front seat back head restraint is adjustable from its normal position to a raised position of approximately 25 mm (1 inch).
  • Pull up on the front seat back head restraint to raise it. Pushing down will return it to its normal position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Removal
  1. Unscrew front seat head rest guide rod retainers (610A18).
  1. Pull up on front seat back head restraint (611A08). Compress foam in area of front seat head rest guide rod sleeves (610A16).
  1. Remove front seat back head restraint positioning springs. Pull front seat back head restraint up and out.
Installation
  1. Slide front seat head rest guide rod retainers onto front seat back head restraint posts.
  1. Compress foam in front seat head rest guide rod sleeve area. Install positioning springs on front seat head rest guide rod sleeves.
  1. Insert front seat back head restraint posts (notches on posts facing rearward) into front seat head rest guide rod sleeves and push down to engage positioning spring.
  1. Tighten front seat head rest guide rod retainers onto front seat head rest guide rod sleeves.
  1. NOTE: Front seat back head restraint must operate smoothly throughout its range of travel, must remain in any fixed position, and must not be freely removable from the seat back. If any of these conditions are not met, check for proper installation of positioning spring onto front seat head rest guide rod sleeve.

Adjust front seat back head restraint by applying hand pressure, either up or down, to center area of front seat back head restraint.
