I put a 1996 4.6 engine and ecu wiring into a 1991 mustang. I made a custom harness to connect the 96 ecu harness to the 91 car harness and added the diagnostic port. the fuel pump primes and the car starts, and then stalls after about 1 sec of running. If I try to restart it it just spins over. If I turn it to the off position it starts right back up. I had a custom tune and the pats turned off on my ecu but it still does the same thing. All the gauges work tach, oil pressure, alt, and water temp. I also used the fuel tank and lines from the 96.

Since it sounds like you also carried over the OBD2 connector, do you have access to an OBD2 scan tool with datastream mode? If so, you should be able to monitor various sensors to see if that offers a clue as to why it stalls. When it just spins over have you checked for spark, fuel, and injector pulse width?

Considering the regulator has no effect on starting lets save that for later. You are surely getting too much fuel. Try unplugging the TPS (hot, cold, and startup). The computer will substitute a default value and you will notice a difference if it's as bad as you say.

D16y8

The d16y8 is used in the 1996 to 2000 Civic EX, as well as the 1996 and 1997 Del Sol. Both harnesses and ECUs will work from either.

Need to adjust timming on 91 ford mustang

pull the spout connector (a grey jumper located in the engine wiring harness either near the code reader port or the distributor) and put a timing light on the #1 spark plug wire. Aim the light at the pointer near the 10-o'clock position on the harmonic balancer (looking aft) while the engine is running and rotate the distributor until you see the pointer aiming at 8-10* BTDC. Don't forget to put the spout connector back in when you're done or else the computer won't be able to automatically advance the timing.

I have a f20a motor in a 91 accord can I put a 2.2 motor without having any major problems

I would only do this with a 92-93 EX Accord motor and keep it OBD0. I did this with no CEL codes, works perfect.

Swap the following parts from your old 91 engine to the 92-93 EX motor:

Intake manifold
Engine Wiring Harness
Distributor
Exhaust manifold (header)
Air Conditioner bracket and Air Conditioner Compressor

Keep your current ECU in the car. Put your transmission on the motor before you drop it in.

If you go to the 94-97 / 2.2 you will run into some additional sensors, crank position sensor, etc... with that motor since it switches over to OBD2 in 1996.

Good luck...
