90 % of the time jerking or vibration is usually caused by the engine and not the transmission. The most common cause is cylinder misfiries caused by the ignition system that cause the vehicle to ****, stumble, or shudder which make it appear and feel as though the transmission is the cause. Most transmission problems will cause harsh shifts, slippage, and/or delayed engagement but rarely jerks or vibrations. I'd start by looking at the spark plugs, plug wires, and coil packs to make sure they are all ok first before going any further. The reason most of these problems are more noticable over 50 mph is that the torque converter clutch is engaged at this point and it provides a solid connection between the engine and drivetrain which makes engine misfires more noticable. Good luck, hope this helps a bit!
